Triangle Borea BRA1 Dolby Atmos-enabled Speaker

To enable Dolby Atmos in the simplest way, this is the task of so-called Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, as they are now available with the new Triangle Borea BRA1 for the Triangle Borea Series.

Triangle Borea BRA1, the French speaker manufacturer Triangle Electroacoustique expands its Triangle Borea Series with a solution that is aimed specifically at home theater enthusiasts. This is a so-called Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker, a solution that should enable immersive 3D surround sound with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X in the simplest way.

This adds a very essential solution to the Triangle Borea Series, which, however, is already very broadly positioned.

Triangle Borea Series for HiFi and Stereo

Triangle Electroacoustique describes the Triangle Borea Series, which was presented for the first time in October 2019, as a particularly attractively positioned speaker line in terms of price. Three floorstanding speaker systems, two compact bookshelf speaker systems plus a center speaker are available here, so that this product line is equally suitable for HiFi as well as home cinema.

With the new Triangle Borea BRA1, a solution is now added that is specifically aimed at home cinema users.

Triangle Borea BRA1 – Dolby Atmos in the simplest way possible.

As a so-called Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker, the new Triangle Borea BRA1 is designed to be placed on an existing speaker system. This can be Triangle Borea BR03, Triangle Borea BR07, Triangle Borea BR08 and Triangle Borea BR09. Equally, however, wall mounting is also possible, this should also be noted.

Placement on a stand or shelf speaker system is recommended first and foremost for the front speakers, whereby the Triangle Borea BRA1 is designed so that the radiation is diagonally upwards. The surround effect is thus achieved via reflection on the ceiling.

Wall mounting, on the other hand, is recommended behind or to the side of the listener, whereby the Triangle Borea BRA1 is then mounted so that it radiates downwards at an angle. However, it then no longer fulfills the task as a Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker, but serves as a classic surround speaker.

Two-way system

The new Triangle Borea BRA1 is designed as a two-way system, combining a 16 cm Mittenton driver with natural cellulose cone with a 25 mm silk dome tweeter with Efficient Flow System and phase plug. This should be able to reproduce a frequency range between 90 Hz and 22 kHz. Impedance is listed at 8 ohms, sensitivity at 89 dB, and recommended power at 80 watts.

Depending on whether the Triangle Borea BRA1 is used as a Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker or surround speaker, it is necessary to choose an appropriate crossover setting. The Triangle Borea BRA1 has two corresponding filters for a linear circuit as a direct radiator or a circuit with a rising high-frequency range to reduce losses when radiating indirectly via the ceiling for 3D effects.

With the new Triangle Borea BRA1, all imaginable configurations for Dolby Atmos as well as DTS:X can of course be realized with the Triangle Borea Series. The spectrum ranges from 3.1.2 channel to 9.2.4 channel.

The system is of course deliberately kept compact, so the new Triangle Borea BRA1 measures no more than 8.1 x 7.1 x 11.8 cm and thus brings it to 7.9 kg.

Offered in Black Ash, White, Walnut and Light Oak finishes, the new Triangle Borea BRA1 is available now for a suggested retail price of €399 per pair.

Getting to the point

With the new Triangle Borea BRA1 Triangle Electroacoustique extends the entry-level line Triangle Borea Series with a so-called Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker, which thus allows the realization of immersive 3D sound based on Dolby Atmos and DTS-X in the simplest way. Likewise, the Triangle Borea BRA1 can also be used as a simple surround speaker for wall mounting.
