Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless in Lavender and Bronze – Two New Design Variants for Proven Premium Sound

The Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless is now available in Lavender and Bronze, joining Black, White and Denim. Underneath, it is the same closed-back headphone with 42 mm dynamic drivers, Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless, adaptive hybrid noise cancelling and up to 57 hours of battery life. Our report looks at what the two new finishes bring and why Sennheiser has left everything else untouched.

Story Highlights
  • The Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless, a premium over-ear headphone with 42 mm dynamic drivers, adaptive hybrid ANC, Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio and up to 57 hours of playback with ANC switched on, now comes in two additional colours, Lavender and Bronze. Both are available immediately at the unchanged recommended price of €399.90, alongside the existing Black, White and Denim versions.

A good pair of headphones is rarely just a tool any more. The models people wear every day on the commute, at the desk or on a long-haul flight have become a personal statement, and alongside sound quality and comfort, appearance weighs heavily in the buying decision. Sennheiser is responding to precisely that with two new finishes for the MOMENTUM 5 Wireless, Lavender and Bronze. The premium over-ear headphone, built around refined sound, current wireless technology and a high level of comfort, thus appears in two further guises. According to the manufacturer, the award-winning sound stays as it was; only the colour palette changes.

Key Facts Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless

  • Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless now available in Lavender and Bronze
  • Colour range grows to five finishes in total
  • 42 mm dynamic drivers with Sennheiser sound tuning
  • Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless
  • Adaptive hybrid active noise cancelling using eight microphones
  • Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio for immersive playback
  • Up to 57 hours of battery life with ANC active
  • Replaceable battery and personalised sound adjustment via the app

Endurance first: up to 57 hours between charges

For a travel headphone, stamina is often the first question, and the MOMENTUM 5 Wireless has a strong answer. Sennheiser quotes up to 57 hours of Bluetooth playback with active noise cancelling switched on, which means long journeys need not involve hunting for a socket.

Should the battery run low regardless, the quick-charge function delivers up to seven hours of additional listening after just ten minutes on the cable. A full charge takes roughly two hours.

The battery is also replaceable, which is worth highlighting. Sennheiser thereby addresses the question of longevity and sustainability: when cell capacity eventually fades, the whole headphone does not have to be retired with it.

Quiet when you want it, aware when you need it

Outside the home, shutting out ambient noise is one of the biggest contributors to comfort. The MOMENTUM 5 Wireless uses adaptive hybrid active noise cancelling, drawing on eight microphones in total and adjusting itself to the conditions around the wearer.

The manufacturer states that noise suppression has been markedly improved over the predecessor, the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless, above all in the mid-frequency range. A Transparency Mode complements it, letting surrounding sounds through on demand so the headphones can stay on during a station announcement or a short conversation.

Phone calls have not been neglected either. Beamforming microphones and automatic wind-noise reduction are intended to keep speech clear, even when conditions are far from ideal.

The sound: 42 mm drivers, modern codecs and spatial audio

The acoustic core remains the dynamic 42 mm driver. Sennheiser says it has been tuned for a balanced, detailed presentation, and that its long experience in headphone design should show in the precise rendering of fine musical nuance, a natural tonal balance and convincing dynamics.

Wirelessly, the headphone relies on Bluetooth 5.4. Besides SBC and AAC, it supports aptX HD, aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless, so with suitably equipped source devices, high-quality connections are possible, which should pay off most with demanding recordings.

Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio is supported as well, so immersive content can be played back on the headphones. In the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app, listeners can shape the sound to their own taste, using Sound Personalization and a built-in 8-band equaliser.

Two new colours, one unchanged headphone

Lavender and Bronze are the actual news here. Both retain the familiar shape of the premium over-ear design and differ from the existing models only in colour.

Lavender is a soft, faintly violet shade that gives the headphone a fresh, contemporary look. Bronze, by contrast, is warmer and more restrained, leaning towards the classic while still keeping a character of its own. Together with Black, White and Denim, buyers can now choose from five finishes.

Leaving the technical specification alone is a sensible decision. Buyers get more choice in appearance without having to weigh up any differences in sound, operation or features.

All benefits at a glance

  • Fresh finishes: Lavender and Bronze extend the colour choice for the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless.
  • Choice by taste: Five colour variants allow a selection based on personal preference.
  • Established sound: Dynamic 42 mm drivers deliver a detailed and balanced presentation.
  • High-quality Bluetooth: Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless supports demanding wireless listening.
  • Adaptive noise cancelling: Hybrid ANC with eight microphones reduces disruptive ambient noise.
  • Spatial listening: Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio enables an immersive experience.
  • Stamina: Up to 57 hours of playback with ANC and a replaceable battery make for dependable everyday use.
  • Tailored sound: The Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app offers Sound Personalization and an 8-band equaliser.

Price and availability

The Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless is available immediately in the two new colours, Lavender and Bronze. The existing choice of Black, White and Denim thus grows to five finishes.

The recommended retail price of the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless remains € 399,90. The new variants are therefore offered at the same list price as the colours already on sale.

Getting to the point

It is often small changes that open up an established product to additional buyers. With Lavender and Bronze, Sennheiser gives the MOMENTUM 5 Wireless two thoroughly elegant new looks, while leaving a technically convincing concept as it was.

For a headphone that is used at home, on the move and in working life alike, a wider choice of colours is welcome. Since every variant offers the same specification and sound quality, the decision is refreshingly simple: personal taste can be the only deciding factor.
