Klipsch Reference Signature Series – First Details of Six New Premium Loudspeakers for Stereo and Home Cinema

Klipsch is revealing further details of the Reference Signature Series first previewed at CES 2026. Two floorstanding models, two monitors, a dedicated centre speaker and a versatile Dolby Atmos module form a coordinated family for stereo and multichannel systems. Full specifications, final European prices and precise availability remain to be announced.

Story Highlights
  • The Klipsch Reference Signature Series is being developed as a complete loudspeaker family rather than a collection of loosely related models. Its defining feature is a horn architecture designed to place the midrange and treble at the same acoustic centre, supported by Cerametallic bass drivers and more elaborate cabinet construction. Selected models are scheduled to reach the market in winter 2026/27, although several essential specifications and European prices are still outstanding.

Klipsch Group Inc. is preparing a loudspeaker range that is meant to extend a familiar acoustic philosophy into distinctly more ambitious territory. The Klipsch Reference Signature Series retains the company’s horn-loaded treble and copper-coloured Cerametallic cones, but places them within a three-way architecture conceived for both serious stereo listening and complete Home Cinema systems.

Following an initial design preview at CES 2026, Klipsch has now confirmed the six model names and disclosed the central engineering ideas behind the range. These details reveal a technically independent family rather than an upgraded finish package for an existing line. They do not, however, provide the complete picture: frequency response, sensitivity, impedance, power handling, dimensions and weight have yet to be published, as have binding prices and launch details for Europe.

From Anniversary Preview to First Demonstration

Klipsch offered the first glimpse of the new series at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, during a presentation marking the company’s 80th anniversary. The display established the broad industrial design but stopped short of revealing final model names or detailed technical information.

The next stage takes place at CEDIA 2026, where the Reference Signature Series is due to be demonstrated in private listening sessions. These presentations will give selected visitors an opportunity to hear the new loudspeakers before the planned global introduction of selected models in winter 2026/27.

A Family Planned Beyond Two-channel Audio

The composition of the range says much about its intended role. Klipsch has not simply developed several stereo models and added a token surround speaker; every important position within a conventional multichannel system is covered by a purpose-designed member of the same family.

The Klipsch RS-8301F and Klipsch RS-6301F are the two floorstanding options, while the Klipsch RS-8301M and Klipsch RS-6301M provide more compact monitor alternatives. The Klipsch RS-6301C is responsible for the centre channel, and the Klipsch RS-6101SA can operate as a Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker, a directly radiating height channel or a rear surround.

Floorstanding, monitor and centre models all employ three-way configurations. Klipsch states that the crossover frequencies have been positioned outside the frequency region in which human hearing reacts particularly sensitively to changes, with separate drivers assigned to the bass, midrange and treble.

Bringing Midrange and Treble Together

The most distinctive engineering decision concerns the relationship between the midrange driver and the tweeter horn. Klipsch positions the midrange section directly within the high-frequency horn so that both frequency ranges radiate from the same acoustic centre.

This phase-aligned horn architecture is intended to make the transition between the midrange and treble more coherent. Klipsch also claims that it preserves a more consistent tonal balance across a wider listening area, whether the listener is seated centrally, positioned off-axis or standing in the room.

Every model uses a horn-loaded Titanium Linear Travel Suspension Tweeter. Its controlled diaphragm movement is designed to minimise distortion while maintaining detailed high-frequency reproduction.

The midrange and bass duties are handled by lightweight yet rigid Cerametallic cones in the copper finish closely associated with Klipsch loudspeakers. According to the manufacturer, this construction combines high efficiency with low distortion.

Two Scales, One Acoustic Vocabulary

Rather than forcing every installation into a single cabinet format, Klipsch divides the principal loudspeakers into two size classes. The larger Klipsch RS-8301F and Klipsch RS-8301M combine 8-inch bass drivers with a 6.5-inch midrange section.

The Klipsch RS-6301F, Klipsch RS-6301M and Klipsch RS-6301C use 6.5-inch bass drivers alongside a 5.25-inch midrange unit. Both floorstanding loudspeakers and the centre model employ two bass drivers, whereas each monitor uses a single bass unit.

This allows systems to be scaled according to room dimensions and application without mixing different Klipsch product families. A stereo installation can be based on either a floorstanding or monitor model, while a Home Cinema system can retain the same fundamental driver technology across its principal channels.

Why the Centre Speaker Deserves Special Treatment

Centre speakers are commonly designed around a horizontal midrange-tweeter-midrange arrangement. The Klipsch RS-6301C follows a different route by placing its drivers in a vertical configuration.

Klipsch says this is intended to reduce horizontal directivity irregularities and the comb-filtering effects that can result from a conventional arrangement. The practical objective is clear: dialogue should remain intelligible for listeners seated away from the central position, rather than being optimised solely for one seat.

The layout is also intended to preserve a consistent tonal character between the centre speaker and the main left and right channels. In a Home Cinema system, that continuity is particularly important whenever voices, music or effects move across the front soundstage.

One Loudspeaker, Three Immersive Roles

The Klipsch RS-6101SA is the most adaptable member of the series. It is a two-way loudspeaker designed for three different positions within a multichannel installation.

Placed on top of a Reference Signature floorstanding or monitor loudspeaker, its angled horn-loaded driver arrangement directs sound towards the ceiling. The reflected energy is then used to reproduce the height information contained in a Dolby Atmos soundtrack.

The same enclosure can be mounted on a wall and operated as either a directly radiating height speaker or a rear surround. A switchable crossover changes its tuning to suit Dolby Atmos or surround operation.

This flexibility should make the RS-6101SA equally relevant when planning a new cinema room or adding immersive channels to an existing system. It also allows the height and effects channels to retain the acoustic character of the wider Reference Signature family.

Cabinet Design with an Acoustic Purpose

The Reference Signature Series also introduces a more sophisticated visual and material language within the Klipsch portfolio. A one-piece BMC front baffle provides a dense and rigid mounting platform for the drivers, with the aim of suppressing unwanted cabinet resonance.

Rounded cabinet edges have more than a cosmetic function. By reducing diffraction at the enclosure boundaries, they are intended to support a wider soundstage and more even off-axis behaviour.

Ebony and Walnut will be the two available finishes. Their horizontal grain pattern follows the rounded contours of the cabinet in a continuous line, creating an appearance reminiscent of steam-bent wood.

A decorative leather panel across the top adds a tactile, furniture-oriented detail. Metal carpet spikes and rubber feet are provided to give the loudspeakers a stable foundation on different types of flooring.

Useful Adjustment, Unanswered Questions

Selected Reference Signature models will provide three-stage treble adjustment. The high-frequency level can be raised by +1 dB, left at its neutral 0 dB setting or reduced by −1 dB.

This limited range is intended to accommodate room acoustics, loudspeaker positioning and personal preference without fundamentally changing the character of the speaker. Selected models will also feature dual terminals for bi-wiring or bi-amping configurations.

Klipsch has not yet confirmed which of the six models will include these facilities. That omission is one of several reasons why the current announcement should be regarded as a detailed preview rather than the complete technical launch of the series.

The Most Important Advantages at a Glance

  • A complete loudspeaker family: Six coordinated models cover conventional stereo and full multichannel configurations.
  • Purpose-developed three-way architecture: The principal and centre-channel models divide bass, midrange and treble between dedicated drivers.
  • Shared acoustic centre: The midrange and treble arrangement is intended to improve integration and maintain more consistent off-axis tonality.
  • Two size classes: 8-inch and 6.5-inch bass-driver options allow the system to be matched to different rooms and applications.
  • A carefully considered centre channel: The vertical driver arrangement of the RS-6301C is designed to preserve dialogue clarity across a wider seating area.
  • Flexible immersive expansion: The RS-6101SA can serve as a Dolby Atmos-enabled, directly radiating height or rear-surround loudspeaker.
  • Room-sensitive treble adjustment: Selected models provide ±1 dB high-frequency level control.
  • More elaborate construction: The BMC baffle, rounded cabinet form, continuous grain pattern and leather top panel distinguish the range from existing Klipsch series.

Price & Availability

Klipsch has so far indicated only a proposed US retail range of US$ 1.600,- to US$ 3.000,- per pair. The company has not assigned those figures to individual models, nor has it confirmed the prices at which the Klipsch Reference Signature Series will be offered in Europe.

The global market introduction of selected models is planned for winter 2026/27. Final prices, complete specifications and precise European availability are expected to be disclosed at launch.

Getting to the Point

Klipsch is still presenting the Reference Signature Series in instalments. Too many essential specifications remain undisclosed for a conclusive assessment, and the absence of firm European prices makes its exact position within the company’s portfolio equally difficult to determine.

What has now been revealed nevertheless points to a genuinely distinct loudspeaker family. The shared acoustic centre for the midrange and treble, the consistent use of three-way architecture across the principal models and the breadth of the range go well beyond a cosmetic revision of an existing series.

The vertical driver arrangement of the Klipsch RS-6301C and the three possible roles of the Klipsch RS-6101SA are especially telling. Both show that Home Cinema was considered at the architectural stage rather than added after the stereo models had already been defined. The final judgement must wait for the missing data, European prices and, ultimately, a proper listening session.
