Final Porta – Ultralight Wireless On-ear Headphones with Innovative Air Wire Construction and Bluetooth 5.4
The Final Porta is a wireless on-ear headphone from final Inc. that weighs only around 40 grams. Its Air Wire frame replaces the usual headband with a thin wire, while Bluetooth 5.4, SBC and AAC support, up to eight hours of playback and IPX4 splash protection cover everyday use. Final says it has tuned the headphone for a natural, easy-going sound with a solid lower midrange, and the Porta will cost ¥ 12.800,- in Japan.
- The Final Porta from final Inc. is a 40-gram wireless on-ear headphone that relies on a wire-thin Air Wire frame to keep contact with the head to a minimum, and it adds Bluetooth 5.4 (SBC, AAC), up to eight hours of playback, IPX4 splash protection and replaceable ear pads in orange or black. It goes on sale in Japan on 23 October 2026 at a recommended price of ¥ 12,800,- (roughly € 75,-), with no European pricing or availability confirmed so far.
Forty grams is not a figure one normally associates with a full-size headphone. Yet that is exactly what the new Final Porta from Japanese audio specialist final Inc. weighs, and the company has built the entire product around that number. The Porta is a wireless on-ear model, but one that strips the genre back to its mechanical essentials in the hope of making it almost forgettable on the head.
It sounds like an obvious goal, and it is anything but. Every gram removed from a headphone puts pressure on stability, comfort and acoustics at the same time, and the three rarely agree. The Porta is final Inc.’s answer to that balancing act.

A frame instead of a headband
Most wireless headphones announce themselves the moment you put them on: a broad band across the crown, padded cups and a noticeable heft. The Porta does the opposite. A single thin wire links two compact earpiece housings, and final Inc. calls the arrangement Air Wire.
The point of the design is to keep the headphone’s contact with the head as small as possible. Pressure on the top of the head is the usual complaint with conventional headbands after a long session, and the Air Wire frame is meant to remove most of it. Together with the featherlight housings, the result is a total weight of roughly 40 grams. According to final Inc., that should make the Porta largely unnoticeable even over long stretches, whether at a desk, on the move in town or at home on the sofa.
Built for the street as well as the living room
The filigree look can mislead. The Porta is not confined to indoor use: it is certified to IPX4, which means it is protected against splashing water, so light rain or sweat should not be a fundamental problem in daily life.
Its size and weight also suit situations in which a large over-ear model feels cumbersome. The exposed, almost technical appearance sets it apart from the rounded, padded look of many current wireless headphones, and it gives the Porta a character of its own.
Two colours, one design
Visually, final Inc. keeps things restrained. The headphone itself is identical in both versions; only the ear pads differ in colour, offered as Orange or Black. The black pads reinforce the minimalist feel, whereas the orange ones add a deliberate splash of colour.
The pads are also replaceable. Final plans to sell replacements separately from 2027, which makes it easier to swap worn pads and, at the same time, to change the headphone’s look by changing the colour.
Wireless connection and battery life
The Porta connects over Bluetooth 5.4 and supports the SBC and AAC codecs. That covers what is needed for pairing with common smartphones, tablets and other mobile sources. There is no support for more elaborate hi-res codecs, a choice that seems reasonable given how firmly the concept is geared towards low weight and uncomplicated use.
The built-in battery has a capacity of 57 mAh and, according to the manufacturer, delivers up to eight hours of continuous playback. A full charge takes about 1,5 hours. That is enough for many typical days, though a headphone this small cannot be expected to match the stamina of far larger wireless models.
What it is meant to sound like
Low weight alone does not make a good headphone. With housings this compact, the difficulty lies in achieving a balanced sound that still has body in the fundamental range. Final says it paid particular attention to this with the Porta and aimed for a natural yet appealingly substantial presentation. Voices are said to benefit from a supportive lower midrange, and the overall tuning is described as light and unforced.
The approach appears to favour sustained, comfortable listening over showy effects. Whether the tuning really strikes the intended balance of lightness, naturalness and substance cannot be judged from the technical data published so far.

Getting to the Point
It is hard to go much lighter. With the Porta, final Inc. shows that a modern wireless headphone does not need a bulky, elaborate structure, and the decision to reduce everything to the essentials is what gives this model its appeal, particularly because the low weight serves the one criterion that matters most: wearing comfort. It is also notable that the Japanese specialist still intends to realise its ideas of a natural, balanced sound within such a minimalist concept. For listeners tired of the heft of many contemporary wireless headphones, the Final Porta looks like a charming alternative.
