This doesn’t just apply to records that you buy on the second-hand market, for example; vinyl fresh from the pressing plant is unfortunately often so contaminated with residues from production that cleaning is essential.

Naturally, record washing machines are particularly effective in this respect, such as the one that the German company Clearaudio electronic GmbH is now presenting in the form of the new Clearaudio Smart Double Matrix at High-end 2024 in Munich.

Clearaudio Smart Double Matrix – In the footsteps of the Clearaudio Double Matrix Professional Sonic

The new Clearaudio Smart Double Matrix is essentially based on the Clearaudio Double Matrix Professional Sonic, says the German specialist about the latest solution for vinyl cleaning. This means that the Clearaudio Smart Double Matrix is also based on cleaning both sides of the records in a single wash cycle.

Another key feature of the new Clearaudio Smart Double Matrix is that it can clean all record sizes, as the application area can be adjusted using a controller in the washing unit. The washing unit is therefore equally suitable for 7, 10 and 12 inch records and, of course, a robust clamp with label protection is included with the new Clearaudio Smart Double Matrix.

Manual control

According to the manufacturer, the new Clearaudio Smart Double Matrix deliberately opted for a solution that dispenses with costly control logic for cleaning programmes as well as a fill level indicator and vibration modules.

This makes a Clearaudio Matrix Generation solution for fast, double-sided cleaning accessible to the widest possible target group.

However, this also means that certain work steps have to be carried out manually, such as the duration and intensity of cleaning, whereby the cleaning fluid is of course applied at the touch of a button and the Clearaudio Smart Double Matrix offers clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation.

Elegant appearance

Here, too, it was important to create a solution that does not have to be hidden away. It has a simple but elegant housing made of black, satinised acrylic.

Inside, a quiet suction turbine is used, which nevertheless offers sufficient power for effective suction.

A special feature of the new Clearaudio Smart Double Matrix is that the storage and collection containers are manufactured directly by Clearaudio electronic GmbH using 3D printing.

Prices and availability

The new Clearaudio Smart Double Matrix will be available from specialist retailers for a recommended retail price of € 2.900,-, and, as already described, in a black finish.
