Electrocompaniet AW 180 Monoblock Amplifier – The last chance

With the Electrocompaniet AW 180 Monoblock Amplifier, the Norwegian High-end HiFi manufacturer Electrocompaniet A/S presented a quite extraordinary solution, which was characterised in particular by its outstanding performance. That was exactly 30 years ago, at the High-End 1994, which at that time was not yet held in Munich but in Frankfurt.

This year was also the year in which Matthias Roth of MRV – Matthias Roth began his collaboration with the Norwegian HiFi manufacturer Electrocompaniet A/S and became the distributor for Germany and Austria.

30 years a constant

The amazing thing is that the Electrocompaniet AW 180 power amplifier is still available on the market after all these years, albeit with many minor and major updates.

This shows two things: that the solutions from the High-end HiFi manufacturer Electrocompaniet A/S are indeed considered a good investment, as they are offered for many, many years and thus retain their value, and that the company MRV – Matthias Roth is also considered a permanent fixture in the HiFi landscape, because a partnership lasting over thirty years is truly something quite extraordinary in today’s fast-moving times.

Nevertheless, Electrocompaniet A/S believes that the time has come to discontinue the aforementioned power amplifier in its current form, but since Matthias Roth is convinced that there is hardly an amplifier on the market today that can compete with the sonic performance of the Electrocompaniet AW 180, he has secured the very last products for Germany and Austria so that he can now offer them as the Electrocompaniet AW 180 Last Edition.

All those who still want to call a pair of this power amplifier their own should now get their hands on it. However, the successor is also available as an alternative in the form of the Electrocompaniet AW 300 M Power Amplifier, a solution that shows how popular the design of the Electrocompaniet AW 180 still is, as the successor adopts the concept of its predecessor, but of course uses completely new technology.
