Many an established record producer can boast special models in its product portfolio that are dedicated to outstanding artists, and this now includes the German company Clearaudio electronic GmbH, which presented the new Clearaudio Celebrity Series at High-end 2024 in Munich.
This new product line is based on a turntable dedicated to one of the greatest guitarists, namely jazz guitarist Al Di Meola. The company has created a turntable that is not only exceptional from a technical point of view, but is also a unique solution in terms of design.
A total work of art designed with the artist
The new Clearaudio Celebrity Al di Meola Edition is described as a total work of art, a turntable that radiates exclusivity in terms of both its technical features and its design.
Clearaudio electronic GmbH designed the Clearaudio Celebrity Al di Meola Edition together with the artist and Impex Records, as they emphasise, and it will be available in a strictly limited edition of only 1.000 units.
In the style of an electric guitar
What makes the design of the turntable so special is that it completely breaks away from the familiar design language of Clearaudio electronic GmbH, instead opting for a shape modelled on an electric guitar.
Accordingly, the base of the turntable is made of high-density wood fibre and comes in a choice of high-gloss black lacquer or rosewood veneer and high-gloss lacquer.
The controls of the new Clearaudio Celebrity Al di Meola Editiion are designed to resemble the volume and tone controls of an electric guitar and the control panel itself has a matt metal overlay, in this case bearing Al di Meola’s signature.
The platter is made of acrylic and is driven by a flat belt and so-called Tacho-Speed-Control, also known as TSC for short.
The manufacturer states that the speed is always monitored in real time and, if necessary, any deviations caused by changing influences such as belt tension due to temperature fluctuations are immediately compensated for.
According to the manufacturer, the speed is automatically calibrated every time the machine is restarted, whereby you can of course choose between 33 1/3 and 45 revolutions per minute for the sake of completeness.
Another key design feature of the new Clearaudio Celebrity Al di Meola Edition is its decoupled motor suspension, which is based on IMS, the abbreviation for Innovative Motor Suspension and is essentially based on several O-rings.
Like TSC, IMS was also originally used in the Clearaudio Reference Jubilee turntable, although both of these technologies have been modified accordingly for the new Clearaudio Celebrity Al di Meola Edition.
Pre-installed tonearm and cartridge system
The appearance of the new Clearaudio Celebrity Al di Meola Edition is rounded off by a special version of the Clearaudio Profile tonearm, the Clearaudio Profile Celebrity tonearm, which is already equipped with a new MM cartridge system ex works, which, according to the manufacturer, also bears the name Clearaudio Celebrity.

As already mentioned, the new Clearaudio Celebrity Al di Meola Edition is a strictly limited edition of just 1.000 units, which is available in either high-gloss black or rosewood veneer with a high-gloss lacquer finish. It is offered with a special numbered release album by the artist and also comes with a plectrum. The price is listed at € 3.950,-.
