Ortofon Concorde Music Series – New MM cartridge systems from Denmark

Danish specialist Ortofon A/S describes the solutions of the new Ortofon Concorde Music Series, which was presented for the first time at High-end 2024 in Munich, as a new product line of pickup systems developed by music lovers for music lovers.

Story Highlights
  • It is a product line developed by music lovers for music lovers, says Ortofon A/S about the new Ortofon Concorde Music Series.

Ortofon A/S obviously had very high ambitions for the development of the new range of pickup systems, at least that’s what the description used by the Danes suggests. The solutions of the new Ortofon Concorde Music Series are more than just new cartridge systems, they are a tribute to the emotions that music can trigger in us, according to Ortofon A/S.

It is also said that the cartridge systems of the new Ortofon Concorde Music Series were developed by music lovers for music lovers, which is why the name was deliberately chosen. The cartridge systems celebrated their premiere at the High-end 2024 in Munich.

Ortofon Concorde Music Series – based on a long history

At first glance, it is clear that Ortofon A/S is relying on a product range with a long history, the Ortofon Concorde Series, which has been offered and continuously developed by Ortofon A/S for years. The company itself speaks of a cartridge system that is one of the most famous in the world and which it regards as an icon of the audio industry.

The new Ortofon Concorde Music Series aims to honour this tradition, while at the same time, of course, using the latest technologies to create particularly fine cartridge systems for HiFi enthusiasts.

Five models for a wide range of tasks

It is interesting to note that Ortofon A/S is offering five new models within the Ortofon Concorde Music Series, thus providing a very broad product range. This also applies to the price, as the new pickup systems start at € 149,- and go up to € 999,- – a price range that is very wide and therefore by no means usual in a product line.

What they all have in common is that they are all MM cartridge systems in the classic form that we have always been accustomed to from the Ortofon Concorde Series. This also includes the SME-compatible bayonet connection, which allows particularly simple, quick installation on the tonearm of the record player.

A new feature of all cartridge systems is a cartridge suspension developed by Ortofon A/S made from a special rubber compound, which is intended to significantly improve the overall performance of the cartridges. In addition, a so-called quad-coil system with silver-coated cables made of oxygen-free copper (OFC) is used.

The Ortofon Ortofon Concorde Music Bronze is equipped with a Nude Fine Line Stylus with r/R 8/40 µm in an aluminium carrier and the Ortofon Concorde Music Black has a Nude Shibata Stylus with r/R 6/50 µm in an aluminium carrier.
