Naim Audio Ltd enters into partnership with Automobili Pininfarina SpA

It is an area of consumer electronics that is often not really noticed, namely that of so-called automotive solutions, i.e. entertainment systems in vehicles. For many well-known manufacturers, this segment has been an enormously important one for years, as a solid, lucrative market has developed here. This area is so important that many spectacular takeovers in recent years can be traced back to it. Of course, prestigious brands in the hi-fi environment are of particular interest here, as they can also be used in the automotive segment to generate good business on a relatively broad front…

However, the partnerships that the English hi-fi manufacturer Naim Audio Ltd. has cultivated are clearly in the high-end segment. For years, the company has had close ties with the luxury brand Bentley, for whose vehicles the Salisbury-based amplifier and digital specialist supplies tailor-made car audio systems. Now a second luxury brand from the automotive sector is being added, namely the Italian company Automobili Pininfarina SpA.

The partnership, which began a little over a year ago when Naim Audio Ltd and Automobili Pininfarina joined forces to design the car entertainment system for the new Pininfarina Battista, which is considered to be the world’s first Pure Electric Luxury Hypercar, can now be announced. The aim is to guarantee not only a unique driving experience, but also a fascinating sound experience.

According to Naim Audio Ltd., the aim of the developers of both companies was to offer a sensational, authentic sound experience in the Pininfarina Battista. When it comes to creating the Battista’s driving experience, the exciting sound plays a crucial role and no compromises are accepted.

Just over 150 cars are hand-built by Automobili Pininfarina in Cambiano, near Turin, Italy. According to the manufacturer, they are to be delivered worldwide at the beginning of 2021.

In this case, the car not only has plenty of electrical power under the bonnet, the audio system also offers a whopping 1,300 watts, with DSP-based signal processing at the heart of the system from Naim Audio Ltd. The aim is to ensure optimum control of the car entertainment system of the new Pininfarina Battista, which is designed as an 8-channel solution and uses no fewer than ten speakers. This is a remarkable figure in view of the more compact interior, especially as the system also includes dual voice coil subwoofers which provide the necessary emphasis. But the reproduction is not only supposed to convince on the bottom end, the manufacturer also speaks of a particularly detailed reproduction up to 40 kHz. A symmetrically designed speaker layout guarantees a sound image similar to that of a studio, whereby extensive individual adjustment is possible. The manufacturer even speaks of best-in-class sound individualization.

Despite this extensive equipment, the complete electronics and all speakers should be optimally integrated into the vehicle interior, so that they always provide optimum radiation without impairing the flawless interior.
