Cayin JAZZ 70 Vacuum Tube Integrated Amplifier – EL34 Push-pull, Triode and Ultralinear Operation as well as Bluetooth 5.1

The Cayin JAZZ 70 Vacuum Tube Integrated Amplifier offers two distinct operating modes, delivering either 2 × 17 W RMS in triode mode or 2 × 35 W RMS in ultralinear mode. Three analogue inputs are joined by Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC and aptX HD, while two illuminated front-panel meters assist with output and bias monitoring. Following its premiere at HIGH END Vienna 2026, the new entry into the Cayin Jazz Series is now available from specialist retailers.

Story Highlights
  • The Cayin JAZZ 70 approaches everyday valve HiFi without making convenience the main attraction. Its four EL34 output valves remain at the heart of the design, while the choice between triode and ultralinear operation provides greater freedom when matching the amplifier to different loudspeakers and listening conditions. Bluetooth 5.1, an integrated ESS DAC, a headphone output and front-panel bias control broaden its usefulness without changing the fundamentally traditional amplifier architecture.

The Cayin JAZZ 70 Vacuum Tube Integrated Amplifier occupies an interesting position within the Cayin Jazz Series. It is unmistakably a traditional valve amplifier, built around an EL34 push-pull output stage and point-to-point wiring, yet it does not demand that every source be connected by cable.

Cayin Audio Distribution GmbH first presented the model at HIGH END Vienna 2026. It has since reached specialist retailers, offering a comparatively accessible introduction to the valve amplifier portfolio of Cayin Audio and its manufacturer, Zhuhai Spark Electronic Equipment Co. Ltd.

The decisive feature is not Bluetooth, useful though it may be. It is the ability to choose how the four EL34 output valves are operated. With triode and ultralinear modes available directly from the front panel, the JAZZ 70 can alter its output capability and adapt to different loudspeakers and listening requirements.

One Amplifier, Two Operating Personalities

In triode mode, the Cayin JAZZ 70 delivers 2 × 17 W RMS. Switching to ultralinear operation raises the rated output to 2 × 35 W RMS, providing considerably more scope for loudspeakers with lower sensitivity or for systems expected to fill larger rooms.

This choice is about more than selecting a power figure. Triode operation is intended for efficient loudspeakers and moderate listening levels, whereas the additional reserves of ultralinear mode extend the range of loudspeakers with which the amplifier can sensibly be partnered.

Cayin has provided separate 4 and 8 Ohm loudspeaker terminals. The output stage can therefore be connected in accordance with the nominal impedance of the loudspeaker rather than relying on a single general-purpose output.

A Traditional Signal Path beneath the Modern Exterior

Three 12AU7, also known as ECC82, double triodes are used in the pre-amplifier section. Four matched EL34 valves handle power amplification, arranged as a Class A/B push-pull output stage.

The power supply and output transformers naturally play a central role in such a design. Cayin employs a hand-made toroidal power transformer intended to minimise magnetic leakage, together with EI output transformers designed, according to the manufacturer, to cover a wide frequency range.

Much of the internal audio circuitry is connected using point-to-point wiring. Key components are joined directly rather than routing the complete signal path through one large circuit board. It is a labour-intensive form of construction, but one closely associated with traditionally engineered valve amplifiers.

Bluetooth as an Additional Source, Not a Substitute

The rear panel provides three analogue line inputs, but the Cayin JAZZ 70 can also receive music directly from a smartphone, tablet or another compatible mobile source via Bluetooth 5.1.

A Qualcomm QCC5125 chipset manages the wireless connection, while an ESS ES9018K2M DAC converts the incoming Bluetooth signal. The supported formats are LDAC, aptX HD, aptX LL, aptX, AAC and SBC. Cayin specifies a wireless range of up to 10 m, and the amplifier appears as “Cayin HD BT” when pairing with a source device.

This does not turn the JAZZ 70 into a networked streaming amplifier, nor is that its intention. Bluetooth functions as a straightforward additional input for occasions when direct wireless playback matters more than assembling another source component.

Front-panel Meters That Earn Their Place

The two illuminated meters give the front of the Cayin JAZZ 70 much of its visual identity, but they are not there purely for decoration. During playback, they indicate the output level of the two channels. They are also used when checking and adjusting the bias of the four EL34 output valves.

That becomes particularly useful after changing valves. Their operating point can be checked at the amplifier itself without requiring a separate measuring instrument, making an important maintenance task considerably easier to manage.

The remaining controls are equally direct. The front panel carries the input selector, volume control, the switch for selecting triode or ultralinear operation and the headphone output. A remote control is included.

Compact, but Certainly Not Lightweight

At 300 mm wide, 338 mm deep and 190 mm high, the Cayin JAZZ 70 requires less space than many integrated valve amplifiers. Its weight of 15,6 kg nevertheless reveals the substantial contribution made by the power transformer and two output transformers.

The front panel is available in either black or silver. Cayin also supplies a removable metal valve cage, a sensible inclusion when the amplifier is not installed in a listening room accessible only to adults.

The Most Important Advantages at a Glance

  • Two operating modes: Triode and ultralinear operation make it easier to adapt the amplifier to different loudspeakers and listening preferences.
  • Classic EL34 output stage: Four matched EL34 valves operate in a traditional Class A/B push-pull configuration.
  • Convenient wireless playback: Bluetooth 5.1 allows smartphones and tablets to be used without a separate Bluetooth receiver.
  • Broad codec support: LDAC, aptX HD and further formats provide flexibility across different mobile source devices.
  • Separate impedance outputs: Dedicated 4 and 8 Ohm terminals support appropriate loudspeaker matching.
  • Accessible bias adjustment: The two front-panel meters assist with monitoring and setting the output-valve bias.
  • Integrated headphone output: Headphones with impedances between 16 and 300 Ohm can be connected directly.
  • Manageable footprint: The amplifier accommodates four output valves and three transformers in a comparatively compact enclosure.

Price & Availability

The Cayin JAZZ 70 Vacuum Tube Integrated Amplifier made its public debut at HIGH END Vienna 2026 and is now available from specialist retailers. Cayin Audio Distribution GmbH offers the amplifier with either a black or silver front panel for € 1.598,-. A remote control and removable metal valve cage are included.

Getting to the Point

The Cayin JAZZ 70 does not dilute its traditional EL34 push-pull concept in pursuit of an unnecessarily long feature list. Instead, it adds convenience precisely where it is useful.

Triode and ultralinear operation give the amplifier meaningful flexibility when choosing suitable loudspeakers. Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC and aptX HD makes casual playback uncomplicated, while the headphone output and front-panel bias control address practical day-to-day requirements.

At € 1.598,-, the Cayin JAZZ 70 is attractively positioned as an entry into the Cayin Jazz Series. Its appeal lies in retaining the construction and operating principles expected of a classic valve amplifier while removing several of the inconveniences that might otherwise restrict its daily use.
