As different as people’s households may be, as different as living conditions may be, one thing is probably constant, and that is that a TV set can be found in every living room, sometimes also in other rooms of the household, such as the bedroom and the children’s room. These should be integrated as discreetly as possible into the living environment, which is no easy task given that TV sets have long been very flat, but are increasingly large in terms of screen diagonal.
The company FITUEYES Inc., which was founded in 2016 and now operates worldwide, has taken on this task, claiming to develop the finest audiovisual furniture, as it describes itself, and thus has a variety of solutions in the field of TV and HiFi furniture in its product portfolio, although the focus is clearly on TV stands. Incidentally, the company’s name is a creation of three syllables from the words ‘Fit your eyes’ and is intended to emphasise that the company places the highest value on outstanding design.
Placed on a lowboard, mounted on the wall or a TV stand?
The way in which consumers integrate a TV set into their living environment is extremely varied, although this has certainly changed over the decades. Just think back to the 1950s and 1960s, when TV sets and audio systems were even integrated directly into pieces of furniture and thus found their way into the living environment. The ever larger CRT sets of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s sometimes required their own furniture to place them on due to their weight, while the first, comparatively light LCD sets offered maximum flexibility, whereas plasma TV sets were immensely heavy and also extremely sensitive. Specially designed TV stands found their way into consumers’ living rooms.
In recent years, TV sets could be integrated comparatively flexibly into the living room, as LCD and increasingly also OLED sets were virtually wafer-thin, very light and, in terms of screen diagonal, were in areas where free placement on a lowboard or sideboard, for example, was easily possible with the stand included in the scope of delivery. Increasingly, however, the focus was also shifting to wall mounting, as this meant that no space had to be sacrificed for the TV set and – if done correctly with a cable duct – no cables disturbed the impeccable appearance.
However, with the current devices and the very generous screen diagonals, TV stands are again attracting consumer interest, because a TV set with a screen diagonal of 60, 70 or even 80 inches no longer really fits on standard sideboards or lowboards, or at least looks very dominant, and not everyone wants wall mounting, so a TV stand can be very exciting. Especially when it comes to extremely elegant solutions, such as those offered by FITUEYES Inc.
FITUEYES Inc. – The specialist for audiovisual furniture
As already mentioned, FITUEYES Inc. has been in existence since 2016 and has developed into a global player over the past few years. In Germany, the company operates from a warehouse in Germany, for example, through which customers can be supplied as quickly and directly as possible, and selected products from the company can also be found on various online platforms. Consumers therefore have a wide variety of ways to purchase FITUEYES Inc. products.
Even though FITUEYES Inc. offers HiFi racks, the company’s focus is clearly on TV stands, as it has a large number of different product lines.
All of the company’s product lines are united by an extremely elegant design, which must be emphasised quite clearly. You will look in vain for purely functional, pragmatically sober solutions, such as those offered by many other manufacturers.
FITUEYES Inc. is clearly dedicated to products that are used in a representative manner, primarily in the home, but also in business premises, offices or the hotel industry. There is no need to hide the products from FITUEYES Inc., they are designed to take centre stage and become an integral part of their surroundings.
In the TV stand sector, the company offers table stands as well as floor stands, whereby the latter are of course also available with castors and shelves, depending on the design line. There are currently six different design lines available, starting with the FITUEYES Collector Series and FITUEYES Cantor Series, the FITUEYES Eiffel Series, FITUEYES Master Series and FITUEYES Picasso Series through to the FITUEYES Zen Series.
The FITUEYES Zen series
Getting to the point, we have chosen a model from the FITUEYES Zen series for our test, namely the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand, which is designed for TV sets from 43 inches up to 88 inches. This product range also includes the FITUEYES Zen Series FT65 model, which is designed for TVs with a screen diagonal of 32 inches to 65 inches.
Getting to the point, we chose this model because it combines many of the strengths that characterise the solutions from FITUEYES Inc. and is therefore representative of the specialist’s range.
Elegant blend of steel and wood
Our test sample, the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand, proves to be an elegant blend of steel and wood, whereby it is light-coloured birch wood that is used here alongside steel components, optionally lacquered in black, white or camel, a subtle beige.
The manufacturer itself describes the design as a mixture of nature and harmony, which is why the name Zen was chosen for the entire product line.
Whether the beech wood in combination with the stainless steel elements actually stands for warmth and tranquillity remains to be seen, but the fact is that the impeccably crafted wooden ribs, which practically conceal the cable duct of the base on the front, are an extremely elegant accent, loosening up the actually very straightforward, clear design concept of the stainless steel construction.
Extremely solid construction – For TV sets up to 88 inches and 60 kg in weight
As the TV stand is designed for TV sets with a screen diagonal of up to 88 inches, it requires a very sturdy construction due to the leverage effects that occur, especially as the TV set can weigh up to 60 kg according to the data sheet.
The basis of the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand is therefore a very solidly designed, generously dimensioned stand that measures 800 mm in width and 480 mm in depth. You can choose between normal feet or castors, the latter of which are available as an accessory for a fee and are of course equipped with a brake.
The frame of the stand has a base of 455 mm, this panel is fitted with birch wood applications at the front, as described, and ultimately forms the cable duct. The rear panel is a stainless steel plate that is simply hooked in. It is therefore possible to lay cables easily even if the stand is close to the wall, as no tools are required to remove and refit the rear panel.
Above this is a stainless steel frame that can be used to vary the height of the stand. It can be adjusted in six stages over a range of 250 mm. Only then is the actual mounting device for the TV set attached, with the centre of the TV set sitting at a height of approximately 950 to 1,200 mm.
The VESA-compatible suspension for the TV set is of course also made entirely of stainless steel and allows TV sets to be mounted according to VESA 100 x 100 up to VESA 600 x 400.
With the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand, the TV can be rotated by 30° to the left and right, which should be emphasised as this allows even more flexible positioning in the room. For the sake of completeness, it should be mentioned that the TV cannot be tilted.
Overall, the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand measures between 1.148 and 1.398 mm in height, and the aforementioned 800 mm in width and 480 mm in depth. This means that the TV stand weighs an impressive 25,3 kg.
Optional shelf, optional cable duct, optional lighting
For a small surcharge, you can purchase matching shelves for the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand, which are mounted directly on the front and are height-adjustable. These are also made of stainless steel sheet and are available in the colours black, white and camel. They have a shelf surface of 400 x 290 mm and a load capacity of up to 10 kg, allowing you to place a games console, streaming device or Blu-ray player on them, for example, as well as remote controls. Up to two shelves can be fitted.
The manufacturer also offers a cable duct as a further optional accessory, which is ultimately a 2 metre long plastic tube that is particularly practical if you want to tame all cables from the TV stand to the socket or connection for the aerial.
Another optional accessory is LED lighting, which consists of an RGB LED chain up to 5 m long, a sensor and an app for Apple iOS for recognising the picture on the TV set so that an Ambilight effect is generated to match the TV programme.
Simple installation
If you order a solution such as the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand from FITUEYES Inc., it will be dispatched from the company’s German warehouse, as already mentioned at the beginning, although this is sometimes handled by different service providers. It can therefore happen that you have to wait a day or two longer for individual optional accessories than for the TV stand itself, or vice versa, as was the case with us. The castors and shelves arrived earlier than the stand itself. Ultimately, however, there was no reason to complain, as all the parts arrived within a few days and assembly could begin.
The first thing we noticed was that everything was packaged in such a way that even rough handling during shipping should not cause any damage. Just a detail, yes, but essential to protect the customer from any inconvenience.
Another positive aspect is that the manufacturer supplies all the necessary utensils, so you don’t even have to dig out the toolbox but can get started straight away. And you are probably also finished very quickly, as many components are already prefabricated and you only have to combine the various modules.
Another plus point is the selection of screws and spacer discs for mounting the TV, so you should be able to find the right solution for all eventualities. At this point, however, we strongly recommend that you take appropriate care to find the right solution. TV sets with large screen diagonals in particular develop enormous leverage and therefore require secure, standard-compliant mounting on the suspension. Slipping up here can have bitter consequences…
In our case, we mounted a 78-inch TV set, whereby the emphasis in this case is on ‘we’, because under no circumstances should you attempt this project alone, just as a side note.
And with combined forces, the whole thing is done in a good 30 minutes and the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand – together with the TV set mounted on it – is ready and waiting in the room.
What to say…
We’ve already mentioned it, but we’d like to emphasise it again here: the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand impresses with its solid design and impeccable workmanship as soon as you unpack all the parts. This impression is confirmed during assembly, because every connection fits, everything is precisely manufactured and every screw fits easily into the corresponding holes. And when it’s finished, there’s no reason to doubt that it will also safely support heavy, solid televisions.
The fact that all the materials and tools needed to mount the TV set itself are included in the scope of delivery is another plus point.
And then, of course, the elegant appearance of the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand speaks in favour of this solution, which really does fit perfectly into any room, allowing even a generously sized TV set to be elegantly and prestigiously integrated into the living environment without being perceived as a nuisance.
There is only one final point that we would like to mention, because if there is anything to criticise, it is the lack of a mounting device for a soundbar, although it should be noted that this should also be as solid a solution as possible. Consumers who own a TV set larger than 50, 60 or even 70 and 80 inches will probably also use a corresponding soundbar. Being able to place this directly on the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand would be a great thing…
Prices and availability
The FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand is already available directly from the FITUEYES Inc. online store, as described, in three colour variants. The price for this solution is € 269,-, which is very favourable considering the quality on offer. Even if you add a few accessories, the price remains very attractive, as the optional castors cost just € 49,- and the optional shelf costs just € 39,-. The cable duct at a price of € 12,99 is probably not a must and the optional LED lighting is probably only relevant for some customers, even if you only have to invest € 69,- for it. Given the elegance of the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand, we would personally opt for a more exclusive solution than a stick-on LED strip, but that’s just a subjective comment in passing.
Getting to the point
The FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand from FITUEYES Inc. has completely impressed us, there is really no reason to complain, not one point that bothers us here. Instead, we are full of praise, especially with regard to the extremely solid construction, which presents itself very elegantly and is therefore undoubtedly an ornament for any modern living environment or even representative office or business premises. In view of this, one must of course emphasise the astonishingly low price, one can even speak of an excellent price-performance ratio that FITUEYES Inc. offers with the FITUEYES Zen Series FT88 TV stand.
