CANVAS The HiFi S99H – Samsung S99H OLED and CANVAS HiFi Merge into a High-end Entertainment System

CANVAS HiFi is extending its partnership with Samsung through a new system that treats neither the television nor the audio section as an isolated component. The CANVAS The HiFi S99H combines Samsung’s flagship 2026 OLED TV with a CANVAS or CANVAS L audio system, enclosed by a continuous arrangement of horizontal wooden slats. Four screen sizes will be offered, with complete systems starting at € 7.999,-.

Story Highlights
  • The CANVAS The HiFi S99H is conceived as a single piece of furniture rather than a television with an audio system added beneath it: the wooden slats surrounding the CANVAS module continue along the sides and across the top of the Samsung S99H OLED display. Buyers will be able to choose between four screen sizes and two audio configurations, with the established CANVAS system launching first and the larger CANVAS L following towards the end of 2026.

Premium televisions have become exceptionally slim, yet convincing full-range sound still requires cabinet volume, properly dimensioned drivers and substantial amplification. CANVAS HiFi does not attempt to conceal that physical reality. Its new CANVAS The HiFi S99H instead makes the audio enclosure part of a wider architectural composition built around Samsung’s leading OLED television for 2026.

The concept follows the CANVAS The HiFi Frame developed with Samsung, but changes the priorities. Whereas that system uses Samsung The Frame and its Art Mode to emphasise the relationship between art, television and interior design, the CANVAS The HiFi S99H places picture and sound performance firmly at the centre. Its official debut is scheduled for IFA 2026 in Berlin.

A Television System Designed from the Outside In

The defining feature of the CANVAS The HiFi S99H is not found on a conventional specification sheet. It is the decision to give the display and audio system one shared visual identity, rather than accepting the familiar hierarchy of a television mounted above a separate soundbar.

Horizontal wooden slats cover the CANVAS audio module before continuing upwards on either side of the display and across its upper edge. The television consequently appears to sit within a complete structure designed for the room, while the audio hardware becomes an intentional part of the composition instead of an accessory placed beneath the screen.

This also changes the apparent scale of the larger models. In the images presented by CANVAS HiFi, particularly the wide 77-inch and 83-inch versions, the surrounding timber grid gives the system the presence of an architectural furnishing. The electronics remain visible in purpose but recede behind a consistent material language.

Samsung S99H Brings Flagship OLED Technology

CANVAS HiFi has chosen the Samsung S99H, the flagship of Samsung’s 2026 OLED range, as the visual foundation of the system. The television is available with 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch and 83-inch displays, and all four sizes are planned for the CANVAS The HiFi S99H.

Its OLED panel provides a resolution of 3,840 × 2,160 pixels and is driven by Samsung’s third-generation NQ4 AI Processor. The listed picture technologies include OLED HDR Pro, Glare Free, Real Black & Real Color and 4K AI Upscaling Pro, alongside Motion Xcelerator 165 Hz and variable refresh rates of up to 165 Hz.

Those capabilities make the Samsung S99H relevant not only for films and television, but also for gaming at high frame rates. Samsung’s own FloatLayer Design pursues an especially slim and almost suspended appearance. CANVAS HiFi deliberately places that display inside a more substantial visual framework, however, making it the focal point of a larger object rather than allowing the panel to stand entirely on its own.

The Audio Section Refuses Soundbar Constraints

CANVAS HiFi occasionally describes its system as a soundbar, but the construction follows the priorities of an active loudspeaker rather more closely. Its cabinet provides the physical space required for larger drive units, passive radiators and the associated electronics.

The established CANVAS configuration uses two 165 mm SB Acoustics bass/midrange drivers with paper diaphragms and long-throw motors. Two 29 mm SB Acoustics silk-dome tweeters operate with dedicated CANVAS waveguides, while a pair of passive radiators supports the low-frequency section.canva

Four Class D amplifier channels deliver a combined output of 250 W. Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by a Burr-Brown solution supporting signals up to 24 Bit 192 kHz, and CANVAS HiFi specifies a frequency response extending from 28 Hz to 24 kHz.

This scale of engineering is important to the product’s position. The objective is not simply to make dialogue clearer or films more dramatic than the television’s internal speakers could manage. CANVAS HiFi intends the audio section to take the place of a conventional HiFi system as well as reproduce television sound.

BACCH 3D and Room Correction Shape the Result

An Analog Devices quad-core DSP rated at 300 MIPS sits at the centre of the signal-processing architecture. It is responsible for functions including linear-phase FIR filtering and BACCH 3D processing.

CANVAS HiFi also provides room correction through the CANVAS App for Apple iOS. Measurements can be performed with the microphone built into an Apple iPhone or with the optional Zen Mic, allowing the system to be adapted to its particular position and acoustic surroundings.

This is especially relevant to a product intended to work either on a wall or as a prominent freestanding feature. Its visual integration may be fixed by the chosen installation, but the audio system retains a means of compensating for the room in which it must operate.

Music Does Not Depend on the Television

HDMI eARC provides the natural connection between the Samsung S99H and the CANVAS audio system. TOSLINK and an analogue audio interface are also included, enabling further sources to be connected without relying exclusively on the television.

Network playback broadens the system’s purpose considerably. CANVAS HiFi lists Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Roon, TIDAL, Spotify Connect and DLNA, allowing music to be played directly through CANVAS even when the screen is not in use.

That independence is central to the proposition. A system claiming to unite premium television and genuine HiFi must function as a music solution in its own right, rather than remain an elaborate extension of the TV loudspeakers.

CANVAS and CANVAS L Offer Two Levels of Audio

The CANVAS The HiFi S99H will be offered with a choice of two audio modules. The familiar CANVAS provides the configuration for which detailed technical information is already available, while CANVAS L is a substantially larger alternative.

Exploded illustrations supplied by the manufacturer make the increased scale of CANVAS L apparent. CANVAS HiFi has not yet published its precise driver arrangement, amplifier output or frequency response, so a direct technical comparison between the two versions is not currently possible.

The choice should nevertheless allow the audio section to be matched more closely to the screen size, room and intended performance level. CANVAS versions are due to arrive first, with CANVAS L systems following later in the year.

Timber as Structure, Not Decoration

Wooden slats are already a recognisable part of the CANVAS design language. On the CANVAS The HiFi S99H, however, they perform a broader visual role than merely concealing the loudspeaker drivers.

By enclosing the sides and upper edge of the television as well as the audio system beneath it, the slats establish a continuous perimeter. This prevents the display and loudspeaker enclosure from reading as two stacked products and gives the entire installation a much more deliberate presence in the room.

CANVAS HiFi provides either wall mounting or a fixed floor stand as standard. A rotating floor stand is available separately in aluminium or black, giving freestanding installations the additional option of adjusting the viewing angle.

Performance Takes Priority over Art Mode

The arrival of the CANVAS The HiFi S99H does not mark the end of the CANVAS The HiFi Frame. The two systems are intended to coexist, but they address different priorities.

CANVAS The HiFi Frame retains its close association with Samsung The Frame and Art Mode, making it particularly suitable where artwork and interior presentation define the role of the screen. CANVAS The HiFi S99H shifts the emphasis towards Samsung’s most ambitious 2026 OLED technology and a choice of two more explicitly performance-led audio configurations.

CANVAS HiFi is therefore building a product category of its own rather than attempting to make loudspeakers progressively less visible. In this case, the audio system, television and surrounding materials are all treated as equally important parts of the interior.

Price & Availability

The CANVAS The HiFi S99H is scheduled to make its official debut on 4 September 2026 at IFA 2026 in Berlin. All four screen sizes are expected to reach selected CANVAS Gallery showrooms from October 2026, initially in combination with the established CANVAS audio system. Versions using the larger CANVAS L are planned for the end of 2026.

Pricing will depend on both the selected screen size and audio configuration. CANVAS HiFi quotes € 7.999,- as the starting price for a complete system, while prices for individual combinations of the four Samsung S99H sizes and the two CANVAS audio options will be available on request.

Getting to the Point

The CANVAS The HiFi S99H is compelling because it does not treat good sound as a problem to be squeezed into the smallest possible enclosure. CANVAS HiFi accepts the volume demanded by a serious audio system and uses it as the basis for the product’s entire visual character.

That approach inevitably makes the system quite specific. The € 7.999,- entry price establishes its premium positioning, while the extensive wooden framework is a deliberate aesthetic choice rather than a neutral disguise. It is designed for buyers who want substantial picture and sound quality without filling the room with visibly unrelated equipment.

The larger CANVAS L remains the unanswered part of the equation. Its eventual specifications will show how far this furniture-led concept can reach towards the capabilities of a conventional high-end HiFi installation. Even with the established CANVAS module, however, the S99H presents a far more coherent proposition than another television accompanied by another soundbar.
