- FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. describes the new FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver as a flexible desktop audio solution at a particularly attractive price.
Now FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. is making it official: the new FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver is a particularly flexible streaming transport that is clearly intended as a solution for desktop audio systems. The company first spoke about this solution at the High-end 2024 in Munich – we reported – and it was already clear then that the FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver was recommended as a playing partner for the FiiO K11 Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier.
FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver and FiiO K11 Deskto DAC and Headphone Amplifier together should form a particularly flexible team at a very high quality level at a very attractive price, as FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. is convinced.
Lumissil X2000 AIoT Application Processor as the basis
At the heart of the new FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver is a so-called Lumissil X2000 AIoT Application Processor from Lumissil Microsystems, which is designed as a multi-core processor and provides the corresponding performance.
Using an AP6256 module from AMPAK Technology Inc., the FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver can be integrated into the network via WiFi in accordance with IEEE 802.11ac, but this module also provides Bluetooth 5.0. Using a Motorcomm YT8531C Ethernet transceiver from Motorcomm Electronic Technology Co. Ltd., this solution can also be integrated into the network by cable via an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet interface.
For easy control of the FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver, it is equipped with a display on the front and basic operating elements, and is also supplied with a suitable infrared remote control.
In most cases, however, you will rely on various apps to play music using the new FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver anyway.
Apple AirPlay 2 and Roon Ready
According to the manufacturer, the new FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver is equipped for Apple AirPlay 2, but can also be used directly via the media management and multi-room Hi-res audio streaming solution from Roon Labs LLC, as the manufacturer states that it is certified as Roon-ready.
Based on Apple AirPlay, it should also be possible to use a wide range of streaming services, as FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. states, first and foremost Apple Music, of course, but also Spotify and TIDAL.
Only a streaming transport, not a streaming client
As already mentioned in the introduction, the new FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver is a streaming transport, so this solution has no integrated D/A converters and therefore only outputs audio data via digital interfaces.
An optical and coaxial S/PDIF interface are available here, as well as USB-A and USB-C, so that corresponding external converters can be integrated.
The FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver is able to process audio data in Linear PCM with up to 32 bit and 768 kHz, MQA and DASD up to DSD256, whereby DoP and thus DSD over PCM is used for the latter. However, the high resolutions are only available via USB, while the S/PDIF interfaces are only designed for audio data with 24 bit and 192 kHz or DSD.
Finally, it should be mentioned that the FiiO SR11 Streaming Music Receiver measures no more than 157 x 133 x 32.3 mm and is powered via a USB-C interface.
