Essenza by Bassocontinuo Supernova Collection – Apollo and Atlas with Optional Decoupling

Bassocontinuo Audio Systems S.r.l. is extending its Essenza by Bassocontinuo portfolio with the new Supernova Collection, first shown at HIGH END Vienna 2026. Built around Apollo and Atlas, the range combines a steel structure, HDC wood panels and a striking Imperial Dark surface with a more technical approach to vibration control. Its key attraction lies in the optional Floating Panels, which allow individual rack levels to be upgraded for additional mechanical decoupling.

Story Highlights
  • The Supernova Collection is not simply another dark HiFi rack range, but a deliberately modular platform that allows users to start sensibly and refine the mechanical behaviour of individual levels later. That makes Apollo and Atlas particularly interesting for systems in which source components, converters, network players or amplifiers require a more controlled support structure without moving into costlier bespoke furniture.

With the Essenza by Bassocontinuo Supernova Collection, Bassocontinuo Audio Systems S.r.l. introduces a new rack line for Essenza by Bassocontinuo, the company’s more accessible brand conceived for a broader audience, first presented at HIGH END Vienna 2026. The Collection is intended to sit within the Essenza portfolio as a technically well-defined yet attainable support solution for serious HiFi systems. Its concept is built around a solid steel structure, refined HDC wood panels, a distinctive Imperial Dark finish and optional Floating Panels for additional mechanical decoupling. At launch, the new line comprises the Essenza by Bassocontinuo Apollo Tower Rack with two or three levels, as well as the Essenza by Bassocontinuo Atlas Power Amplifier Stand.

Essenza by Bassocontinuo Supernova Collection – an accessible rack solution with a technical upgrade path

According to the manufacturer, the Essenza by Bassocontinuo Supernova Collection is based on the Vanguard Line, but introduces a new technical concept focused above all on mechanical decoupling and subsequent expandability. It therefore retains the central idea behind Essenza by Bassocontinuo: well-made rack systems with a clear visual language, sturdy construction and a deliberately more accessible position within the wider Bassocontinuo Audio Systems S.r.l. portfolio.

The new Collection combines refined HDC wood panels, a substantial black-coated steel structure and several decoupling elements. Each rack is equipped with height-adjustable solid steel spikes, floor-protection and decoupling discs, and four harmonic damping resonators positioned beneath the top level. The aim is not merely to create a stable piece of HiFi furniture, but to reduce unwanted mechanical influences acting on the components placed on it.

Floating Panels as an optional decoupling layer

The central technical option of the Supernova Collection is the Floating Panel system. These panels are not rigidly coupled to the respective shelf level, but rest on rubber-like damping elements. In this way, HiFi components can be further isolated from unwanted vibration without changing the basic rack architecture.

The practical appeal lies in the flexibility of the concept. Floating Panels can be used on every level, installed only on selected levels, or omitted entirely. Retrofitting is also part of the concept. A user can therefore begin with the standard configuration and later upgrade precisely the level that supports the most sensitive component, whether that is a turntable, CD player, D/A converter or network player.

For decoupling, Bassocontinuo Audio Systems S.r.l. provides two densities of rubber-like material. The red elements are designed for components weighing up to 20 kg, while the yellow elements are intended for heavier equipment. This allows the system to address different product categories, from lighter source components to more substantial amplifiers.

Essenza by Bassocontinuo Apollo Tower Rack and Essenza by Bassocontinuo Atlas Power Amplifier Stand

The Supernova Collection initially consists of two models. The Essenza by Bassocontinuo Apollo is designed as a classic Tower Rack and is available with either two or three levels. It is therefore intended as a central support platform for compact to medium-sized HiFi systems, where several components need to be housed in a clean, mechanically considered and visually consistent manner.

The Essenza by Bassocontinuo Atlas, by contrast, is conceived as a Power Amplifier Stand. It addresses users who want to place a power amplifier or integrated amplifier close to the floor, but not directly on it. Particularly with heavier amplifiers, a solid and decoupled base can be a worthwhile measure, especially as every level of the Supernova Collection is specified to support up to 45 kg.

Imperial Dark – a dark finish with a finely structured surface

An important part of the new Collection is the Imperial Dark finish. The steel structure remains black-coated, while the HDC wood panels feature a dark surface with light grey or white veining and violet reflections. According to the manufacturer, the visual effect is reminiscent of natural marble, while also suggesting the tactile impression of a solid, stone-like surface.

The surface is created using laser technology, which, according to the manufacturer, also produces a clean and consistent finish at the edges. This gives the Collection a more individual presence than a conventional black HiFi rack, without allowing the design to become ornamental for its own sake. For contemporary interiors in which HiFi components are openly integrated rather than hidden away, this combination of technical structure and distinctive surface treatment may well be an important argument.

Modular, upgradeable and built for real-world use

The Supernova Collection is modular in design and intended to be straightforward to install. Just as important is its upgrade path. Floating Panels can be added later, individual levels can be refined as required, and the rack line is therefore not locked into a single initial configuration.

The usable height between levels depends on whether Floating Panels are fitted. Without Floating Panels, the distance between the lower and middle level is 270 mm; with Floating Panels, this is reduced to 225 mm. Between the middle and upper level, 230 mm are available without Floating Panels and 185 mm with Floating Panels. The Atlas Power Amplifier Stand has an overall height of 130 mm without Floating Panels and 175 mm with Floating Panels. The Apollo Tower Rack measures 435 mm or 480 mm with two levels, and 695 mm or 740 mm with three levels, depending on whether Floating Panels are used.

All benefits at a glance

  • Clearly defined new rack line for carefully built HiFi systems
  • Solid support platform using HDC wood panels and a black-coated steel structure
  • Apollo Tower Rack provides a neat base for multi-component systems
  • Atlas Power Amplifier Stand keeps heavier amplifiers low, stable and properly supported
  • Optional Floating Panels allow targeted mechanical decoupling where it matters most
  • Two densities of decoupling material support different component weights
  • Individual levels can be upgraded later rather than specified all at once
  • 45 kg load capacity per level gives the Collection useful practical headroom
  • Imperial Dark finish adds a more distinctive visual character than standard black rack furniture
  • Designed and manufactured in Italy

Price and availability

The Essenza by Bassocontinuo Supernova Collection was introduced at HIGH END Vienna 2026. Concrete pricing for the DACH region has not yet been announced. As outlined, the new line consists of the Apollo Tower Rack with either two or three levels and the Atlas Power Amplifier Stand, each available in standard configuration or with optional Floating Panels. Since the Floating Panels can also be retrofitted, the Supernova Collection can be adapted step by step to the respective system and its components.

Conclusion

With the Supernova Collection, the Italian Essenza by Bassocontinuo brand from Bassocontinuo Audio Systems S.r.l. addresses a point at which HiFi racks become genuinely interesting in everyday use, but also rather expensive: solid construction, sensible expandability and a visual identity that does not look like purely functional equipment furniture. The optional Floating Panels are more than a decorative flourish, because they allow individual levels to be upgraded mechanically in a targeted way. The fact that Bassocontinuo Audio Systems S.r.l. treats this not as a compulsory feature but as a retrofit option makes the Collection notably practical. It also matters that this is intended to be a particularly attractive offer within the company’s wider range. With Apollo and Atlas, the line therefore starts as an accessible, but by no means ordinary, basis for thoughtfully assembled HiFi systems.
