Bluesound Professional BSP500 and Bluesound Professional BSP1000

The new solutions from Bluesound Professional, the Bluesound Professional BSP500 and Bluesound Professional BSP1000 systems, are designed for use as active loudspeaker systems both indoors and outdoors. This is much more than “just” active speakers, because a streaming system based on BluOS is integrated right away.

Bluesound Professional is a very young company, as it is the latest division of the Lenbrook Group, dedicated to the development of custom installation systems based on the BluOS streaming platform. While BluOS is the developer’s forge focused solely on the technology platform itself, Bluesound International is dedicated to consumer systems based on BluOS, Bluesound Professional focuses on systems for commercial applications. Of course, products from other companies of the Lenbrook Group, such as Bluesound International, but also NAD Electronics International, as well as the loudspeaker manufacturer psb Speakers, are also used. For example, the latest solutions from Bluesound Professional, the active loudspeaker systems Bluesound Professional BSP500 and Bluesound Professional BSP1000.

With the solutions Bluesound Professional BSP500 and Bluesound Professional BSP1000, so-called full range network active streaming speaker systems are available, i.e. active speaker systems that are directly equipped with a BluOS-based streaming client. They can be used both indoors and outdoors, can be easily controlled with a single cable, and thus serve as a versatile sound reinforcement solution in the custom installation segment.

As already mentioned, of course the developers of Bluesound Professional rely on the expertise of the sister company psb Speakers for the new models Bluesound Professional BSP500 and Bluesound Professional BSP1000, the “close relationship” is obvious at first sight.

Both models are designed as particularly compact loudspeaker systems, using a solid plastic housing. This is designed in a way that the speaker systems can be used not only indoors, but also outdoors. They are therefore resistant to all weather conditions and are certified as IP65. Part of the speakers, by the way, are wall-mounted devices, in the form of a bracket mounted on the back of the enclosures, which can be turned and tilted – 90° swivel, 170° rotation – to ensure optimum radiation at all times. The front is decorated with a removable wire mesh. The two solutions Bluesound Professional BSP500 and Bluesound Professional BSP1000 are available in white or black with a matt finish.

Both solutions use a 1-inch tweeter, while the Bluesound Professional BSP500 uses a 5.25-inch woofer for the low-midrange driver, whereas the Bluesound Professional BSP1000 features a 6.5-inch woofer. Both models use amplifier modules in Class D, whereby the actual performance that can be achieved depends on how the power supply to the speakers has been solved.

The Bluesound Professional BS500 and Bluesound Professional BSP1000 are powered via Power over Ethernet, also known as PoE. This means that a network cable alone is required not only to connect the active speaker systems to the network, but also to supply them with power. This guarantees a particularly simple installation in any environment.

If PoE+ IEEE 802.3at Type 2 is used, 30 watts are available for both models. If, on the other hand, PoE++ IEEE 802.3bt Type 3 is used, the speakers supply 60 watts.

According to the manufacturer, the Bluesound Professional BSP500 can cover a frequency range between 63 Hz and 23 kHz. The frequency response of the Bluesound Professional BSP1000 is specified as 45 Hz to 23 kHz.

The heart of both solutions is an ARM CORTEX A9 processor with 1 GHz, which provides streaming functionality based on BluOS. This means that the Bluesound Professional BSP500 and Bluesound Professional BSP1000 solutions can be used as fully-fledged streaming zones of a complex BluOS Hi-res Audio Multiroom Streaming System, whereby of course several speakers can be configured as a mono system, or two speakers can be configured as a stereo pair.

On the one hand, BluOS can be used to access your own content on the network, in all relevant formats up to hi-res audio with up to 24 bits and 192 kHz. Content in MQA is also supported. In addition, various streaming services can be accessed, from Internet radio and podcasts to TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, Deezer, Napster, Amazon Music HD and many, many more. Another unique feature of Bluesound Professional solutions is that specific content can be defined and the system can be configured for announcements via optional extensions – in short, everything relevant to the commercial environment is supported.

This also applies to the direct integration into various control solutions, be it Control4, RTI, Crestron and many more.

Of course, the Bluesound Professional BSP500 and Bluesound Professional BSP1000 loudspeaker systems can be controlled separately or as part of a BluOS streaming system primarily using the corresponding apps, the Bluesound Controller Apps. These are not only available for Apple iOS and Google Android, the manufacturer also offers them for Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS and thus for desktop systems.

“At Bluesound Professional our focus is on combining exceptional sound quality with unique flexibility and convenience for both the installation engineer and his customers. Of course, the reliability of the components as well as the BluOS operating system is also a top priority, so the brand is dedicated to testing and continuous improvement.”

Graeme Harrison, Vice President and General Manager of Bluesound Professional

The new solutions from Bluesound Professional will soon be available for specialist dealers or custom installation specialists.
