Yamaha TW-E7B and Yamaha TW-ES5A, two more so-called True Wireless In-ear headphones are to be available, which, according to Yamaha Music Europe GmbH, comply with the Yamaha True Sound initiated by the Japanese consumer electronics company Yamaha Corporation. This describes the company’s efforts to reproduce music as naturally as possible with its consumer electronic solutions, thus offering nothing less than excellent sound. In the case of the new products in the area of personal audio devices, this naturally means that once again many in-house technologies are used for this task, such as Yamaha Listening Care or the company’s Advanced Active Noise Cancelling Technology.
While the Yamaha TW-E7B is the new flagship of the product portfolio in this segment, the Yamaha TW-ES5A should prove to be a particularly sporty companion.
Yamaha TW-E7B – The new flagship model
The Yamaha TW-E7B is the new top-of-the-range in-ear headphones from Yamaha Music Europe GmbH. As already described, these are so-called True Wireless In-ear headphones, which completely dispense with cables and rely on Bluetooth for signal transmission.
The manufacturer once again emphasises the direct cooperation with the specialist Qualcomm, which should lead to a solution with reliable signal transmission at all times. The manufacturer relies on a Bluetooth 5.2 module that supports SBC and AAC as well as the aptX Adaptive codec.
At the heart of the new Yamaha TW-E7B is a dynamic driver with a very generous diameter of 10 mm, which is supposed to have a specially coated diaphragm in order to convince with a very responsive, precise and dynamic reproduction.
Another important feature is the specially shaped housing of the Yamaha TW-E7B, which is designed to be acoustically optimally tuned, but at the same time, of course, also fully complies with ergonomic requirements and thus ensures a high level of wearing comfort even during hours of use. Earbuds of various types and sizes are also included with the Yamaha TW-E7B to ensure an individual fit.
A particularly sophisticated active noise cancellation system ensures the finest sound free of distracting ambient noise.
Its capabilities are said to go beyond the typical functions of active noise cancellation, so that the manufacturer refers to it as Advanced Active Noise Cancelling Technology.
It is essential that this noise cancellation works very efficiently without distorting the original signal, so that even demanding music lovers can make use of this technology at any time and achieve the best results.
Another outstanding feature is the so-called Yamaha Optimizer, which is based in the broadest sense on the Yamaha YPAO room correction technology developed by Yamaha Corporation for AV receivers. This is a technology that ensures that AV receivers adapt optimally to individual room conditions. The Yamaha TW-E7B uses a similar principle to adapt the reproduction to the individual ear shape as well as different conditions. According to Yamaha Music Europe GmbH, music reproduction with earphones is very individual; the sound changes depending on the shape of the ear and even on how the earphones are seated at any given moment. The Yamaha Listening Optimizer uses powerful in-ear microphones to make dynamic corrections for the ideal frequency range, guaranteeing personalised sound.
The Yamaha TW-E7B are IPX5 certified, making them resistant to sweat and splashing water.
Yamaha TW-ES5A – The sporty companions
The new True Wireless In-ear headphones were developed primarily for active sports enthusiasts, and are therefore designed to be compact and, of course, particularly robust. This solution has been certified according to IPX7 and is therefore waterproof and absolutely resistant to sweat and dirt. Use in various outdoor activities is therefore possible in any weather without any problems.
A newly developed fit in combination with five different ear tips and four exchangeable fins ensures a secure hold and a high level of wearing comfort, as the manufacturer promises.
Of course, the new Yamaha TW-ES5A also uses a driver that is supposed to provide the finest sound, a dynamic driver with a diameter of 6 mm, as the data sheet reveals.
Bluetooth 5.2 from the specialist Qualcomm is used for signal transmission and the codecs SBC, AAC and aptX are supported.
Yamaha Listening Care Technology
Both new headphone models are equipped with Yamaha Listening Care Technology, a solution that is designed to provide a balanced sound even at low volume levels, thus helping to protect the user’s hearing even during intensive use of the in-ear headphones.
For example, a low level means that certain frequency ranges are not perceived as intensely, so one tends to turn it up a little. Yamaha Listening Care Technology is designed to compensate for this with an intelligent equaliser that fine-tunes the sound to ensure a full sound image even at low levels.
The new Yamaha TW-E7B is even equipped with Yamaha Advanced Listening Care Technology, which also takes into account the dynamic range of the music, the recording level and background noise, thus guaranteeing an even finer result. Here, too, the developers drew on their experience in the AV segment, as this feature originates from the Yamaha YPAO Volume used by the Japanese in the home cinema segment.
Best voice quality
Of course, in-ear headphones have long had to be able to prove themselves as a high-quality communication solution, which is why the new models are equipped with high-quality microphones and Qualcomm cVc Technology (Clear Voice Capture). This suppresses background noise as well as echoes and thus guarantees clear voice transmission. This also facilitates the use of voice control solutions, be it Apple Siri under Apple iOS or Google Assistant under Google Android.
Those who want to enjoy films via the new in-ear headphones need a signal transmission with the lowest possible latency, as do all those who use games via mobile devices and rely on the in-ear headphones for this purpose. The new Yamaha TW-E7B and Yamaha TW-ES5A models are therefore equipped with a special gaming mode that is designed to guarantee the lowest possible delays between audio and video.
Yamaha Headphone Control
With the new Yamaha TW-E7B and Yamaha TW-ES5A models, the associated app also plays an important role, as it allows individual adjustment of the various options offered by these two in-ear headphones.
First and foremost, of course, is the sound adjustment via an equaliser, but also the so-called Ambient Mode, which the two models Yamaha TW-E7B and Yamaha TW-ES5A offer so that you are not completely cut off from the environment. This allows you to determine how much of your surroundings you can hear.
This app is available for both Apple iOS and Google Android, but that goes without saying in this field anyway.
Long battery life
The manufacturer claims a battery life of up to six hours for the new Yamaha TW-E7B, with charging via a transport case providing a further 16 hours of playing time. The new Yamaha TW-ES5A are said to have a playing time of up to nine hours, with the transport case providing a further 25 hours.
The transport case is charged via a USB-C cable, which is of course included in the scope of delivery.
Prices and availability
According to the manufacturer, the new Yamaha TW-E7B and Yamaha TW-ES5A in-ear headphones will be available in stores from July and August 2022 respectively. While the Yamaha TW-E7B will be available in black, white, blue and beige, the user can choose between black, white, pink, blue and green for the Yamaha TW-ES5A. The recommended retail price for the Yamaha TW-E7B is € 269,- and for the Yamaha TW-ES5A € 179,-.
