The Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 2-Channel Streaming Amplifier is the “smallest” in the range of the Danish high-end HiFi and AV specialist S/L Audio A/S, but an extremely exciting solution. This stereo integrated amplifier of the Lyngdorf Audio brand comes up with a variety of features that are also offered by its big siblings of the Lyngdorf TDAI Series, but is offered at an extremely interesting price, and is capable of much more than one might expect from its compact appearance.
The functionality of the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 2-Channel Streaming Amplifier is now once again expanded with the help of an update, whereby the focus is especially on the TIDAL service. Not only is TIDAL Connect now supported, but content encoded in MQA can now be played back in the best possible way, a format that also plays an important role in TIDAL.

TIDAL Connect support
TIDAL Connect is a streaming technology that users of this streaming service probably like to use, since it allows direct control of appropriately equipped devices via the TIDAL app. Another advantage is that with TIDAL Connect, the data stream does not first go via the mobile device – be it smartphone or tablet – and then to the streaming device, but directly from the network.
Now with MQA Core Decoder
The update now available for the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 2-Channel Streaming Amplifier also brings, as mentioned at the outset, direct support for content encoded in lossy MQA, a data format whose abbreviated name is known to stand for Master Quality Authenticated.
The update for the small stereo integrated amplifier from Denmark thus includes decoding for content in MQA. The MQA core decoder embedded in the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 deconvolves an MQA file once to deliver better-than-CD quality, typically 24-bit and 96 kHz. The embedded MQA decoder is an important addition to TIDAL Connect, says S/L Audio A/S, as it enables playback of higher resolution files, for example from the growing selection of TIDAL Masters albums and playlists. MQA files can also be played via UPnP and Roon, as this is known to be Roon ready and acts as a dlna-certified streaming client.
In addition, the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 2-Channel Streaming Amplifier but also supports Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast as well as Spotify Connect and is able to play Internet Radio via vTuner. It also has Bluetooth, can play audio data directly from USB, it features an HDMI interface, optical and coaxial S/PDIF interfaces, and of course analog inputs.
The Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 2-Channel Streaming Amplifier is also characterized by the integrated room correction Lyngdorf RoomPerfect and he the amplifier built as Class D delivers a power of twice 120 watts to speaker systems with an impedance of 4 ohms, still twice 60 watts to speakers with an impedance of 8 ohms. The new Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 measures 10.1 x 30 x 26 cm and thus brings it to 8 kg.
Prices and availability
The now available update is of course available to customers free of charge. It can be loaded directly via the corresponding menu of the amplifier, but can also first be transferred to a PC or Mac, and then imported via a USB memory stick.
Getting to the point
Once again SL Audio A/S proves that they take product care and customer support very seriously by offering a firmware update for the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 2-Channel Streaming Amplifier and thus the “smallest” stereo integrated amplifier of the Lyngdorf Audio brand, which brings two quite significant innovations. First, there is the upgrade to TIDAL Connect, as well as the implementation of an MQA decoder, so that content in this lossy format can be played back in the best possible form.
