Story Highlights
  • With the two models Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 Technics presents the latest generation of True Wireless Headphones.

It is the latest generation of in-ear headphones that Panasonic Corporation is now presenting under the Technics brand in the form of the Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 models, whereby the focus is once again on so-called True Wireless Headphones. The manufacturer promises that these will be characterised by excellent sound and first-class wearing comfort in the proven manner.

The Technics EAH-AZ40 and Technics EAH-AZ60 models, for example, have proven to be outstanding products in their class, proving that such promises can be kept. The new Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 models are intended to be in no way inferior to these.

Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 – The best companions for all circumstances

With the two new headphones, the Technics EAH-AZ80 and the Technics EAH-AZ60M2, Technics expressly states that it has developed solutions that are intended to be the perfect companions, regardless of how they are used.

Whether as a companion in hectic everyday working life, for relaxing in one’s free time, when travelling or when doing sports, the two headphones Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 are supposed to be ideally equipped for every task. The usual separation between business and leisure time can be safely forgotten here, the True Wireless In-ear headphones are designed to do everything.

It should be explicitly mentioned that the in-ear headphones Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 are resistant to splash water, dust and perspiration according to IPX4.

Maximum wearing comfort

And to ensure that this is also particularly comfortable, the Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 models have been designed for maximum wearing comfort; the manufacturer refers to this as an all-day comfort design.

The previous models from Technics in the area of in-ear headphones already proved to be very comfortable to wear, even over many hours, but the new Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 are said to have been improved even further in this respect.

In the case of the Technics EAH-AZ80, for example, the manufacturer emphasises a specially shaped housing that adapts to the user’s ear cup and thus ensures better stability, without the pressure that occurs with conventional earphones. The Technics EAH-AZ60M2 also uses a specially shaped housing, an all-day-comfort-fit design housing that provides extended contact surfaces for greater comfort and security.

Of course, both models come with a variety of earmoulds, in different materials and sizes. Seven pieces from XXS to XL can be found in each pack, so you can always find the ideal pair for your individual requirements.

HiFi Sound Engineering Philosophy

Technics has always stood for the best sound quality, so it is absolutely essential to guarantee this also in the field of personal audio devices. Therefore, the new solutions Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 are based on the so-called HiFi Sound Engineering Philosophy and all the technical expertise that has been acquired during the 55-year history of the company.

The Technics EAH-AZ80 uses a newly developed driver with a 10 mm aluminium diaphragm and a free edge, a solution that, according to the manufacturer, guarantees the best sound quality ever achieved in wireless in-ear headphones, as it significantly extends the high and low frequency range while reducing unwanted resonance and distortion.

Of course, the Technics EAH-AZ60M2 also use a particularly high-quality driver, the manufacturer promises, and both models also rely on an acoustically optimised housing that features a so-called acoustic control chamber to optimise the airflow for natural-sounding voices, a powerful bass and detailed, yet harmonious highs.

Technics Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology

To ensure that music can be enjoyed anywhere and at any time, the new Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 are equipped with active noise cancellation, using Technics Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology.

This offers industry-leading performance and uses a combination of digital software filters and a feedforward microphone to effectively suppress noise outside the in-ear headphones, as well as a feeback microphone in combination with an analogue hardware filter to suppress noise inside.

Of course, the intensity with which the active noise suppression works can be adjusted to individual needs. In this context, the manufacturer explicitly points out that of course the perfect fit also plays an essential role and that it is definitely advisable to test different sizes of the supplied eartips. By the way, the Technics Audio Connect app for Apple iOS and Google Android is helpful in finding the perfect fit and also serves for individual fine-tuning.

It should also be emphasised that the Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 offer a so-called Ambient Aware mode, and even more, with “Natural Environment” and “Attention”, two modes are available in which you are not completely isolated from the environment. These two modes can also be finely adjusted via the app.

Technics JustMyVoice Technology

Especially for use in a professional environment, voice quality is of course of the utmost importance, for which Technics relies on the so-called Technics JustMyVoice Technology. In addition to two voice recognition microphones, two MEMS microphones are used to actively isolate the voice and suppress ambient noise using beamforming technology. A total of eight microphones – four per earphone – are used to guarantee clear conversations.

In the latest version of the Technics JustMyVoice Technology, the suppression of ambient noise is said to have been optimised even further, so that it easily delivers the best results in the most varied of environments.

For the sake of completeness, it should also be mentioned that the two models Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 can also be used for voice control, be it Apple Siri under Apple iOS, Google Assistant under Google Android, as well as Amazon Alexa on all relevant platforms.

Hi-res audio via Bluetooth

The new models Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 rely on Bluetooth for signal transmission. In addition to SBC and AAC, LDAC is also supported, so that signal transmission up to 24 bit and 96 kHz and thus Hi-res audio is possible.

Bluetooth multipoint connection with up to three sources

It should also be emphasised that the two new models Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2 allow Bluetooth multipoint connection with up to three sources, whereby it is possible to switch seamlessly between them. This means that a connection can be established simultaneously with a smartphone, a tablet and a notebook, switching from device to device as required.

Simple, intuitive operation

As already mentioned, the Technics Audio Connect app, which is available for Apple iOS and Google Android, is primarily responsible for convenient control. Directly on the earphones, an intuitive one-button operation ensures comfort. Single taps, multiple taps and prolonged holding can trigger a wide range of actions, whereby the user decides for himself which actions are to be performed.

The in-ear headphones recognise via a sensor whether they are being worn or not, and pause the playback accordingly or automatically resume it as soon as they are back in the user’s ear.

Long battery life and Qi wireless charging

For the new in-ear headphones Technics EAH-AZ80 and Technics EAH-AZ60M2, the manufacturer claims a playing time of up to 7.5 hours, although without active noise cancellation. The transport case, designed as a power bank, provides a total of up to 25 hours.

With active noise cancellation, however, music playback is also possible for up to seven hours; with the transport case, the total is 24 hours.

If the Technics EAH-AZ80 or Technics EAH-AZ60M2 are used solely for making phone calls, they can be used for up to four hours with active noise cancellation and JustMyVoice.

Charging is either via USB-C or, much more conveniently, via Qi wireless charging.
