According to the Japanese company Soulnote Inc., the new Soulnote A3 Core Stereo Power Amplifier, the latest addition to the Soulnote Series 3, is a stereo power amplifier at the very highest level that combines the technologies of various High-end solutions. According to the Japanese HiFi manufacturer, the new amplifier utilises complete ground separation, as known from the Soulnote P-3 Preamplifier and Soulnote A-3 Integrated Amplifier solutions, as well as the single push-pull circuit of the Soulnote M-3 Monoblock Power Amplifier.
This, along with several other outstanding features, should ensure that the Soulnote A3 Core Stereo Power Amplifier is a solution that delivers a superior, vibrant, dynamic performance.
Complete mass separation
Soulnote Inc. has already used full ground isolation in a number of solutions. It was originally developed for the Soulnote P-3 Preamplifier and was subsequently adopted in the Soulnote A-3 Integrated Amplifier, and is now of course also found in the new Soulnote A3 Core Stereo Power Amplifier.
According to the manufacturer, the strictly separated left and right channels each have their own 700 VA toroidal transformer. Simple non-NFB circuits ensure that the amplifier housing is ground-free, and an optimised design of all components is used to minimise high-current loops.
Single push-pull output stage
As already mentioned, the new Soulnote A3 Core Stereo Power Amplifier, like the Soulnote M-3 Monoblock Power Amplifier, features a single push-pull circuit based on a quad Darlington circuit for the output stage, in which a TO3 bipolar transistor (metal CAN type) provides the necessary high current amplification and which, according to the manufacturer, guarantees a thrilling performance with every detail.
Special cooling design, special housing design
We have also already pointed out the special design features of the new Soulnote A3 Core Stereo Power Amplifier, specifically a cooling system based on a copper plate that is also used as a busbar for the power supply of the TO3 bipolar transistor. Its connections can be mounted directly to the underlying circuit board through this copper plate, eliminating the wiring that is a disadvantage of the typical design of a TO3 transistor.
It is also particularly exciting that Soulnote Inc. has dispensed with a fixed screw connection for selected components of this power amplifier for acoustic reasons. The amplifier block, the connections and the top and bottom covers are only loosely attached, whereby the amplifier block in question has a laterally movable three-point structure with titanium glides for optimum decoupling.
Key technical data
The new Soulnote A3 Core Stereo Power Amplifier delivers an output of twice 120 watts to speaker systems with an impedance of 4 ohms and weighs in at an impressive 29 kg with dimensions of 454 x 189 x 435 mm.
In addition to connections in the form of XLR as inputs, there are of course solid screw terminals for connecting the speaker systems.
