It is obvious that the Shokz OpenFit was primarily focussed on sport, especially as the Shokz company generally develops solutions that are designed for sporting activities. Of course, this also applies to the company’s latest headphones, the Shokz OpenFit 2, which is intended to replace the Shokz OpenFit.
But these headphones are more than just a generational change with a few new features, Shokz is actually talking about a new era of open-ear listening, which is being established with the Shokz OpenFit 2.
Shokz DualBoost Technology
One of the most important features of the new Shokz OpenFit 2 is the so-called Shokz DualBoost Technology. This uses two separate drivers for each ear, a bass driver for clear, distortion-free bass and therefore a particularly dynamic performance, and a treble driver that starts in the mid-range and provides clear mids and detailed highs for a balanced, natural performance.
For a particularly powerful performance, the Shokz OpenBass 2.0 algorithm developed by Shokz can also be activated, which, according to the manufacturer, guarantees an immersive sound experience.
Signal transmission via Bluetooth 5.4
The new Shokz OpenFit 2 already uses Bluetooth 5.4 for signal transmission and should therefore offer a particularly stable, reliable connection, as promised by the manufacturer. Of course, this also enables multipoint pairing, i.e. simultaneous connection with two source devices, so that you can switch seamlessly between a notebook and a smartphone, for example.
Of course, the new Shokz OpenFit 2 can also be used as a hands-free device, with two AI-supported microphones per earbud using advanced noise cancellation to ensure the best possible quality free from distractions.
Simple control
The new Shokz OpenFit 2 should be characterised by very simple controls, with physical buttons available in addition to touch controls, allowing precise and intuitive control.
Naturally, Shokz offers a suitable app for the new Shokz OpenFit 2 in the form of the Shokz app for Apple iOS and Google Android, which offers a range of options for personalisation. Another very practical feature is the Find my Buds function, which helps the app to quickly find any lost earbuds.
Convenient use and robust design
Especially as these are headphones that are not only used for relaxing or travelling to and from the office, but above all for sporting activities, an ergonomic fit with a secure and comfortable fit is immensely important.
The design of the headphones is said to have been inspired by the golden spiral, allowing them to fit the contours of the ear perfectly, with the earpiece made of a flexible nickel-titanium alloy and covered with ultra-soft silicone 2.0, as described by the manufacturer itself.
The Shokz OpenFit 2 weigh no more than 9,4 g per earbud and are IP55 certified, making them water and sweat resistant, as can be seen from the headphones’ data sheet.
The new Wear Detection Technology, which stops playback immediately when the headphones are taken off and resumes when they are put back on, should also be emphasised.
Up to eleven hours of playtime
The Shokz OpenFit 2 should be able to play music for up to eleven hours at a time, with a total of 48 hours via the charging case included in the scope of delivery. Charging is via USB-C. Thanks to the quick-charging function, just ten minutes are enough for a further two hours of music playback.

The new Shokz OpenFit 2 will be available from summer 2025, with a choice of black or beige. The recommended retail price is € 189,-.
