Admittedly, it seems a little bizarre when a manufacturer describes a new product by saying that it now offers exactly what users wanted most from its predecessor, but that is exactly what Sonova Consumer Hearing GmbH is now doing with the new Sennheiser HD 660S2 and thus the latest addition to the Sennheiser 600 Series.
The aim is to ensure once again that this particularly important product line of the Sennheiser brand will continue to be the benchmark for audiophile headphones of the highest quality. The new Sennheiser HD 660S2 is designed for this purpose with outstanding precision and a warm, relaxed sound, as the manufacturer promises.

It is a challenging task to improve a popular classic while retaining its best features, the manufacturer says, so it has done everything in its power to meet this challenge and offer audiophiles the opportunity to experience music in a completely new way with the new Sennheiser HD 660S2.

Developed based on user feedback
As mentioned in the introduction, Sonova Consumer Hearing GmbH is keen to emphasise that the new Sennheiser HD 660S2 was designed based on user feedback from its predecessors.
The new Sennheiser HD 660S2 has been tuned to deliver a deep, warm bass response that perfectly matches the silky smooth highs and accurate vocal presence to capture the timbre and uniqueness of each instrument and voice in its entirety.
From a technical point of view, the transducer itself has been optimised for the new Sennheiser HD 660S2 by reducing the weight of the aluminium voice coil and using a vented magnet system to improve the impulse response, by modifying the compliance of the transducer surround to reduce the resonance frequency and thus achieve a more powerful bass response, but also by improving the construction of the housing to better control the airflow around the transducer. The mesh grille on the outside of the Sennheiser HD 660S2 is also designed to help control the airflow optimally.
The new Sennheiser HD 660S2 is designed as an ear-enclosing, open-back construction and relies on a 38 mm diameter dynamic transducer capable of reproducing a frequency range of 8 Hz to 41.5 kHz with a sensitivity of 104 dB and an impedance of 300 ohms.
High wearing comfort
Of course, the highest attention has also been paid to wearing comfort, with particularly soft ear pads and headband cushions. In this context, it is not insignificant that the new Sennheiser HD 660S2 weighs only 260 grams.
By the way, the quality is guaranteed by the fact that the headphones are manufactured in Ireland, as the manufacturer explicitly emphasises.
Flexible connection options
Of course, the new Sennheiser HD 660S2 has detachable cables, two of which are included in the scope of delivery with a length of 1.8 m each. One of them has a 6.3 mm stereo jack and a matching adapter for a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack is also included in the package. The second cable is equipped with a 4.4 mm stereo jack plug and thus allows symmetrical control via a 4.4 mm Pentaconn.

The new Sennheiser HD 660S2 can already be pre-ordered and will be available in stores from 21 February 2023. The new headphones are available in black with elegant bronze accents. The recommended retail price is € 599,-.
