REL T/9X High Gloss Grey – REL T/X Series subwoofer now also available in grey
The REL T/9X subwoofer from specialist company REL Acoustics Ltd. is now not only available in high-gloss black and high-gloss white, but this solution can now also be purchased in the new grey finish as the REL T/9X High Gloss Grey.

With the REL T/9X, subwoofer specialist REL Acoustics Ltd. aims to offer a solution that offers many of the features of the REL S Series at a particularly attractive price, making it a subwoofer that delivers a highly dynamic, precise performance while also impressing with power and being able to effectively show itself off.
The REL T/9X is the flagship of the REL T/X Series, and is designed for both HiFi and home cinema, according to REL Acoustics Ltd.
Grey as a new design variant
Until now, the REL T/9X subwoofer was available in high-gloss black and high-gloss white, two design variants that can justifiably be described as timelessly elegant solutions. In addition, it should not be forgotten at this point that REL Acoustics Ltd. also offered a special edition model, the REL T/9X RED Limited Edition.
Nevertheless, the standard was always, as described, high-gloss black and high-gloss white, although REL Acoustics Ltd. has now decided to offer a further colour variant of the REL T/9X, namely in grey.
On closer inspection, this is not at all surprising, because grey has been considered a colour that is increasingly common in many areas for some time. This starts with cars, extends to furniture and interior design trends, and extends to clothing.
From the point of view of REL Acoustics Ltd., it was therefore high time to also rely on this colour, especially since many people find this colour calming and neutral.
However, it is extremely important to get the shade right, as grey can also be perceived as boring. That is why a great deal of time was spent on finding the optimal shade, which perfectly matches the natural finishes of the REL T/9X in high-gloss black and high-gloss white. In addition, it was of course important to ensure that the REL T/9X could be integrated just as harmoniously into any modern living environment as the previously available variants.
No changes to the technical features
Of course, nothing has changed in terms of the subwoofer’s technical features. It is still a solution that combines a front-firing active driver with a down-firing passive driver, both of which have a diameter of 10 inches and are designed as long-throw fibre-alloy cones with inverted alloy centre caps and a robust steel chassis. The REL T/9X is driven by a 300-watt amplifier in class AB.
In addition to high-level Neutrik connectors and a low-level RCA socket plus a further RCA connection as LFE, the connection panel is equipped with all the relevant rotary encoders for optimal integration of the subwoofer in both stereo and surround configurations. Alternatively, the REL Arrow Wireless is available for wireless control.
With dimensions of 370 x 340 x 393 mm, the REL T/9X subwoofer weighs a respectable 20,6 kg.
Prices and availability
The REL T/9X subwoofer is available in grey at the same price as the previously available and still offered versions in high-gloss black and high-gloss white. The REL T/9X costs € 1.499,-.
Getting to the point
Above all, companies that focus solely on subwoofers, and as is well known, there are not too many of them, tend to take a rather conservative approach to the design of their solutions, as it is important to implement discreet solutions that can be easily integrated into any living environment. There is little room for fashionable experiments, especially since the focus is deliberately on solutions that will be in use for many years. From the point of view of REL Acoustics Ltd., grey has become more and more established as a colour in recent years, so that the company’s flagship REL T/X Series, the REL T/9X, is now available in elegant high-gloss grey, in addition to piano black and high-gloss white.
