Pro-Ject VC-E2 and Pro-Ject VC-S3 - Two new record washing machines

Pro-Ject Audio Systems now presents two new record washing machines, the Pro-Ject VC-E2 and the Pro-Ject VC-S3. These are intended as a low-cost solution for the optimal cleaning of records, aimed at a wide range of customers.

Story Highlights
  • Setting new standards in record cleaning is what Pro-Ject Audio Systems has set out to do with the new Pro-Ject VC-E2 and Pro-Ject VC-S3 solutions.

With the two new solutions Pro-Ject VC-E2 and Pro-Ject VC-S3, Pro-Ject Audio Systems has set itself the goal of once again setting a new benchmark around the topic of record washing machines. They are convinced that they have already done this with the presentation of the first Pro-Ject Audio Systems solution in this segment in 2016, in terms of an outstanding price-performance ratio, and this is exactly what they now want to do again.

The two new systems Pro-Ject VC-E2 and Pro-Ject VC-S3 are said to have been developed with all the experience gained in seven years since the very first record washing machine was introduced to the market.

Pro-Ject VC-S – The first record washing machine

As already mentioned, it was in 2016 that Pro-Ject Audio Systems introduced the Pro-Ject VC-S, the first record washing machine, to the market. The special feature of this solution was that it was offered at a very attractive price and was considered to be a very powerful and therefore efficient system. Pro-Ject Audio Systems therefore quite rightly spoke of a product that was aimed at a particularly wide range of customers and also made the purchase of such a solution palatable for vinyl lovers who perhaps did not pursue their hobby so intensively.

Three years later, Pro-Ject Audio Systems launched two more solutions, the Pro-Ject VC-E and Pro-Ject VC-S2 ALU systems, which were presented as improved versions of the original machine.

Pro-Ject VC-E2 and Pro-Ject VC-S3 – The culmination of seven years of development

With the two new solutions Pro-Ject VC-E2 and Pro-Ject VC-S3, Pro-Ject is once again proud to be able to offer vinyl lovers very attractively priced, easy-to-use and, of course, efficient cleaning solutions for their vinyl treasures.

In principle, the two new solutions are, of course, products that remain largely faithful to the previous concept. The new Pro-Ject VC-E2 and Pro-Ject VC-S3, for example, are also manual cleaning solutions, but both bring with them numerous improvements in detail.

For example, they rely on an improved housing design, using 5 mm thick aluminium composite panels. Once again, the two machines are presented in discreet silver.

Another new feature is that the washers now use a clamp that no longer needs to be screwed on tightly, as it now uses magnets to hold the record in place while effectively protecting the label from the cleaning solution.

As a manual solution, the cleaning fluid is also applied by hand to the two new systems Pro-Ject VC-E2 and Pro-Ject VC-S3, although Pro-Ject Audio Systems now relies on the new solution Pro-Ject Wash it 2.

Pro-Ject Wash it 2 is said to be an improved cleaning solution that is alcohol-free and environmentally friendly.

After cleaning with a brush or cloth, the solution and the dirt are sucked off, and the new Pro-Ject VC-E2 and Pro-Ject VC-S3 systems are supposed to do their job very efficiently. The aluminium suction arm is attached manually and now has self-adhesive cleaning strips that can be easily replaced by the user at any time.

After only two turns, all residues should be removed and the record completely dry so that it can be played immediately.

The Pro-Ject VC-E2 in detail

The Pro-Ject VC-E2 is designed as a compact solution for users who want to clean their records from time to time. The record washing machine measures 310 x 266 x 210 mm and thus weighs 6.5 kg.

In addition to the Pro-Ject Wash it 2 cleaning solution, it comes with a brush and another set of self-adhesive cleaning strips for the suction arm.

The tank for the extracted cleaning solution measures 0.5 litres, but the manufacturer states that with occasional use, the liquid evaporates by itself anyway via a corresponding outlet, so that ultimately the tank needs to be cleaned from time to time, but never actually emptied.

The Pro-Ject VC-S3 in detail

The Pro-Ject VC-S3 is a little more powerful, even though it measures no more than 415 mm in length, 325 mm in height and 272 mm in depth. However, this machine already weighs 8 kg.

While the Pro-Ject VC-E2 has a tank with a capacity of 0.5 l for the extracted cleaning solution, the Pro-Ject VC-S3 has a volume of 2.5 l and is therefore also suitable for the “big wash”. The manufacturer also promises the Pro-Ject VC-S3 a particularly robust motor and high-quality workmanship for a long service life even with intensive use.

Prices and availability

The new record washing machines from Pro-Ject Audio Systems should be available in specialist shops within the next few days. The manufacturer states a recommended retail price of € 450,- for the Pro-Ject VC-E2 and € 699,- for the Pro-Ject VC-S3.

Once again, the manufacturer attaches great importance to the fact that both machines are manufactured entirely in Europe.

Getting to the point

The two new record washing machines Pro-Ject VC-E2 and Pro-Ject VC-S3 are the third generation of such solutions from Pro-Ject Audio Systems and once again the company wants to offer a particularly attractive price-performance ratio in order to make a cleaning solution for their treasures palatable to as many vinyl lovers as possible.
