Pro-Ject E1.2 Turntable – A statement for the beginner

Pro-Ject Audio Systems is well positioned in the field of record players for beginners, but is obviously working hard to ensure that this remains the case. The new Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable, the successor to the Pro-Ject E1 turntable, will be announced for the first time at High-end 2025.

Story Highlights
  • The Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable, which was unveiled at High End 2025, is expected to be a new addition to the entry-level turntable segment this year.

Pro-Ject Audio Systems owes its impeccable reputation among vinyl lovers not least to the fact that over the years the company has always endeavoured to offer turntables that appeal to the widest possible target group and deliver very appealing results at attractive prices. In fact, the company’s entire success and its development into the undisputed world market leader in the field of record players is based on the philosophy set out by company founder and CEO Heinz Lichtenegger, and still practised today, of offering the best possible analogue experience at reasonable prices.

Of course, this applies in particular to the turntables in the entry-level segment, such as the Pro-Ject E1 turntable, which Pro-Ject Audio Systems launched in 2022 and which has now been given a successor in the form of the Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable. This was on show for the first time at High-end 2025.

The successor to the Pro-Ject E1 turntable

Pro-Ject Audio Systems presented the Pro-Ject E1 turntable as a new benchmark in the entry-level segment. According to the company at the time, it was tired of finding more and more solutions on the market that were simply trimmed for cheapness and in which everything that was relevant for an appealing presentation of records in terms of design measures and equipment features was disregarded, thus ultimately providing no added value for the consumer.

The Pro-Ject E1 turntable should be a real alternative to this, and a genuine plug & play solution for the perfect introduction to vinyl.

Improved in essential details – Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable

Of course, all of this also applies to the new Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable, which is of course very much based on its predecessor, but has one or two decisive new, revised details that also significantly improve the sound of the turntable.

Of course, the concept of a plug & play solution has not changed; the new Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable should be ready to play immediately after purchase in just a few simple steps. The turntable is therefore equipped with everything it needs.

The chassis is made of MDF, sits on damped feet and is available in black, white and walnut finish.

What is new is that an aluminium platter is now used, which is driven by a DC motor via a sub-platter using a belt. The matching 15 V 0.8 A DC power supply unit is of course included in the scope of delivery. The speed can be selected between 33 and 45 revolutions at the touch of a button.

The tonearm of the Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable is made of aluminium and is now fitted with a Pro-Ject Pick it MM E ex works. This is probably the most important upgrade compared to its predecessor, which was fitted with an Ortofon OM 5 SE MM cartridge.

Manufactured in Europe

Once again, Pro-Ject Audio Systems emphasises that the new Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable is manufactured exclusively in Europe, which is all the more important as it is a turntable at a particularly attractive price.

Prices and availability

It is not yet clear when the new Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable will actually be available from specialist retailers, but the price is. You only have to budget € 329,- for this turntable.

Getting to the point

Once again, Pro-Ject Audio Systems has made an impressive statement with the presentation of the new Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable, the successor to the Pro-Ject E1 turntable. True to the company’s philosophy, the new Pro-Ject E1.2 turntable is once again a turntable for newcomers to the Pro-Ject E Line that fulfils all the requirements for appealing sound quality at a particularly attractive price and is also manufactured entirely in Europe.
