Peugeot E-3008 with Focal HiFi Premium System

Ever since the very first Peugeot 3008 in 2016, the French car manufacturer Peugeot has been cooperating with the French loudspeaker, headphone and car hi-fi specialist Focal-JMlab, so it's not surprising that the new Peugeot E-3008 now also features the Focal HiFi Premium System.

Story Highlights
  • As previously in the Peugeot 3008, the new Peugeot E-3008 is also equipped with an audio system from Focal-JMlab, the Focal HiFi Premium System.

In 2016, the long-established French car brand Peugeot presented the Peugeot 3008 for the first time and with it the latest interpretation of a modern SUV with a multitude of technological innovations and French esprit. Already at that time, an audio system from another French company rich in tradition was on board, namely Focal-JMlab. Together they developed the Focal HiFi Premium System, which is now also found in the new Peugeot E-3008.

The Peugeot E-3008 is said to represent the latest generation of the Peugeot 3008, the first time a high-performance, all-electric version of the elegant and compact SUV from France has been produced by Stelantis N. V..

Intensive, long-standing collaboration

As already mentioned, the cooperation between the French car brand and the French loudspeaker specialist has been going on for many years and dates back to a time when Peugeot, along with Citroen and DS Automobiles, did not belong to the Dutch-based Stellantis N.V. group, but rather to the PSA Groupe.

As is well known, the merger with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles created the new automotive group Stellantis N.V., which, in addition to Peugeot, Citroen and DS Automobiles, now also includes Opel, Vauxhall, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Lancia, Maserati and Jeep.

However, Focal-JMlab will obviously continue to focus on the French brands of the group, especially the vehicles of the Peugeot and DS Automobiles brands.

Audio systems from Focal-JMlab can currently be found in the Peugeot 308, Peugeot 508, Peugeot 508 SW, Peugeot 2008, Peugeot 3008, Peugeot 5008 and the Peugeot Peugeot 4008 SUV as well as the new Peugeot 408 and as the Focal Electra Premium HiFi System in all models of the DS Automobiles brand, i.e. the DS 3, DS 4, DS 7 and DS 9.

The Peugeot E-3008 – SUV Coupé of the next generation

With the new Peugeot E-3008, the French company speaks of a particularly innovative vehicle, in which an elegant SUV coupé silhouette, an ultra-modern front design and a dynamically designed rear are intended as an expression of a new era, even at first glance. The world of electrified performance is being redefined here.

In fact, it is the range that stands out most of all, as it is supposed to be in the range of 512 to 700 km – depending on the model and equipment – as the manufacturer states.

Inside the vehicle, the new Peugeot E-3008 is said to boast the elegance and high level of comfort to which Peugeot is accustomed, with the manufacturer highlighting above all what it considers to be the pioneering new Peugeot Panorama i-cockpit of the latest generation.

In proven style, the new Peugeot E-3008 is available in two versions, the Peugeot E-3008 Allure and the Peugeot E-3008 GT.

Peugeot E-3008 with Focal HiFi Premium System for Immersive Sound

The new Peugeot E-3008 can be optionally equipped with the Focal HiFi Premium System, whereby both Peugeot and Focal-JMlab promise an immersive sound experience specially optimised for this vehicle.

A total of ten speakers have been discreetly integrated into the vehicle and rely on tried and tested features from Focal-JMlab’s Car HiFi department.

Four drivers are used first and foremost, which are recessed into the vehicle doors and are intended to cover the mid-range as well as the bass. For this purpose, Focal uses polyglass cone woofers with a diameter of 165 mm each. The particularly stiff and at the same time very light diaphragm in combination with a powerful drive system ensures that all details can be reproduced over a wide frequency range free of sound-damaging distortions. The particularly long excursion guarantees extremely impressive dynamics.

This also applies to the centre speaker, which is located in the dashboard and also relies on Focal Polyglass Cone Technology.

The four tweeters are integrated directly into the A-pillar and the rear doors of the vehicle. The developers rely on so-called inverted dome tweeters with aluminium cones, which are supposed to guarantee precise and detailed high-frequency reproduction thanks to their omnidirectional characteristic and lightness. An interesting detail: the so-called Poron surround has been adopted from the Focal Utopia tweeters, which is supposed to offer a much lower directivity than conventional domes and a significant reduction of distortion.

For the lowest frequency spectrum, an elliptically designed subwoofer with Focal Triple Voice Coil Power Flower Technology is used, once again technology that originated with the Focal Utopia, and which here ensures a particularly powerful drive of the subwoofer and thus powerful, yet accurately reproduced bass.

The speakers are driven by a 12-channel amplifier system that delivers a Class D output of 690 watts.

Getting to the point

Of course, the new Peugeot E-3008 also features an audio system from Focal-JMlab. After all, the partnership between the traditional French car brand Peugeot of Stellantis N. V. and the equally traditional French loudspeaker specialist Focal-JMlab goes back many, many years and in principle extends to all vehicles. Once again, the Focal HiFi Premium System in the new Peugeot E-3008 relies on technologies that Focal-JMlab took over from classic loudspeaker development in the HiFi sector. This should also ensure the best sound quality in the car hi-fi segment.
