Lyngdorf DW-1 In-wall Woofer - New high-performance subwoofer for In-wall installation

The Scandinavian company SL Audio A/S has always had an extremely wide range of products in the custom installation sector, but with the Lyngdorf Audio brand, for example, it is clearly focussed on the premium segment and thus offers solutions that must meet the highest standards in every respect, be it in terms of design, but above all, of course, in terms of sound.

It is therefore not surprising that when the latest subwoofer for the custom installation segment is presented, the company is now talking about a solution that can be integrated extremely discreetly into any living environment, but at the same time shines with an impressive performance. As part of the Lyngdorf Discreet Series, the new Lyngdorf DW-1 In-wall Woofer should be able to do all this.

The new Lyngdorf DW-1 In-wall Woofer is designed as a solution that is specially designed for custom installation as a particularly flat in-wall woofer, and yet can justifiably be described as a high-performance subwoofer.

The product name stands for nothing other than Discreet Woofer, and it is the first of its kind, but already the sixth model in the highly successful Lyngdorf Discreet Custom Installation Series. This subwoofer thus complements Lyngdorf Audio’s in-wall loudspeaker systems in this product line, as well as those offered by the Lyngdorf MH-Series and Lyngdorf FR-Series solutions.

A high-performance subwoofer

The new Lyngdorf DW-1 is based on a closed construction with a particularly flat housing, so that it can even fit into cavity walls of just 10 cm.

The developers have opted for a particularly flat design based on a 10-inch woofer with special voice coil and cone geometry and space-saving suspension. To go into more detail, it is a design with a four-layer voice coil, an ultra-stable double aluminium cone in conjunction with a very powerful neodymium magnet and an extremely rigid cast aluminium basket. This ensures an impressive bass performance that achieves a high output level and a deep bass extension, according to the manufacturer’s promise.

Key technical data

The new Lyngdorf DW-1 in-wall woofer is a passive subwoofer for in-wall installation with a 10-inch dual aluminium cone, four-layer voice coil and powerful drive unit based on a neodymium magnet. With a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and an efficiency of 82 dB, it is designed for an output of up to 300 watts and can reproduce a frequency range between 30 and 200 Hz.

With dimensions of 350 x 1,000 x 88 mm, this solution with its solid housing made of MDF and rigid frame weighs 16 kg. The subwoofer is finished in matt black and the front grille can of course be painted over.

Prices and availability

The recommended retail price for the new Lyngdorf DW-1 in-wall woofer is € 2.799,- and it is expected to be launched in October 2024. It comes with a paintable, magnetically held grille to cover the woofer front.

Getting to the point

With the new Lyngdorf DW-1 In-wall Woofer, SL Audio A/S is expanding the so-called Lyngdorf Discreet Custom Installation Series with a subwoofer for the first time, which is designed for installations where no speakers are to be visible or where only conventional speaker systems are to be used, but in any case the highest value is placed on a performance with rich, accurate bass reproduction.
