Marantz PM6007 and Marantz CD6007 – The new generation in the entry-level class

The new Marantz PM6007 stereo integrated amplifier and the Marantz CD6007 CD player are designed for users looking for a fine, classic stereo system. They are equipped with all the features that offer attractive sound, sufficient power and flexible connection options.

It is already a tradition cultivated over the years that the Japanese consumer electronics group Marantz has a thoroughly broad range of products in the classic stereo segment, spanning the various price ranges. The spectrum here ranges from the entry-level class to the proven premium segment, with solutions in the lower price classes in particular often benefiting directly from developments in the upper segment.

For example, Sound United LLC. refers to the latest solutions in the entry-level segment, the Marantz PM6007 stereo integrated amplifier and the Marantz CD6007 CD player as a further development of the award-winning Marantz 6006 series. A finely tuned CD player and an integrated amplifier with even more carefully selected components and an improved circuit layout are designed to appeal to those who are looking for the typical musical Marantz sound and want to take their two-channel hi-fi system to the next level.

The new Marantz PM6007 stereo integrated amplifier is designed to excel in terms of connection flexibility, being open for both analogue and digital sources. The Marantz PM6007 therefore also includes an integrated D/A converter. This means that it can not only integrate five analogue sources via pairs of RCA sockets, up to a record player equipped with MM pickup systems, but also a TV set, streaming solutions or game consoles via one coaxial and two optical S/PDIF interfaces.

Sound United LLC. makes a point of emphasising that the D/A converter of the new Marantz PM6007 is not simply a gimmick that looks good in the data sheet, but that it actually relies on high-quality components. For example, the stereo integrated amplifier has an AKM AK4490, and the user can adjust the sound character to his own preferences via digital filter modes. In addition, the D/A converter is shielded, so that there should be no sound-damaging influences on the analogue section.

The new Marantz PM6007 is designed as a circuit with current feedback, whereby tailor-made, high-quality components are also used here alone, according to the manufacturer’s promise. For example, Marantz HDAM-SA3 is used in the output stage to guarantee a wide dynamic range with low distortion. An intelligent quiescent current stabilisation system is intended to ensure that the power amplification is highly temperature-independent without a memory effect, thus achieving clean and precise sound reproduction even after hard bass. For the power supply a toroidal transformer is trusted, which is also supposed to contribute significantly to the extraordinary sound quality as described by the manufacturer.

The Marantz PM6007 is equipped with four loudspeaker connections, thus offering an A/B switching function. It delivers a power of 60 watts per channel to speaker systems with an impedance of 4 ohms.

The new Marantz CD6007 is also designed for versatility, allowing it to play not only audio CDs including CD-R and CD-R/W, but also USB storage media via a corresponding connection. Fortunately, the Marantz CD6007 is not only capable of playing back data in MP3, AAC and WMA format, but also Hi-res audio content in WAV, ALAC, FLAC, AIFF and DSD.

Beyond that, however, the digital section of the new Marantz CD6007 is not open to any other external sources, even if it is also a very high-quality D/A converter, namely also an AKM AK4490 DAC with 24 bits and 192 kHz or DSD up to DSD 5.6 MHz. Here too, the user can intervene in the filter characteristics in order to adapt the playback to his personal preferences.

The Marantz CD6007 is also equipped with a headphone amplifier that can be adapted to a wide range of headphone models by means of impedance control.

Sound United LLC. is also leading the way with an improved circuit layout for the new Marantz CD6007, as well as special premium components. This starts with the aforementioned D/A converter, continues through an output stage with Marantz HDAM-SA2 signal amplifiers, a generously dimensioned, low-noise power supply with fast, high-current Schottky diodes, and ends with capacitors that are 120 percent larger than their predecessor to guarantee flawless signal processing.

The manufacturer also refers to a particularly solid construction with rigid feet and a two-layer base plate, which is intended to prevent the precision mechanism of the Marantz CD6007 from being affected by unwanted vibrations.

In general, the Marantz CD6007 as well as the Marantz PM6007 has been manufactured with the highest value on a flawless workmanship, which you normally don’t find in the beginner class.

Of course, a matching infrared remote control is included in the scope of delivery, whereby this can be used to control both components.

The new Marantz PM6007 stereo integrated amplifier and the Marantz CD6007 CD player are now available from specialist dealers. Naturally, the customer can choose between a black or silver-gold version in the tried and tested manner.

The recommended retail price for the Marantz PM6007 is quoted by Sound United LLC. as € 549, while the Marantz CD6007 is to be available at a price of € 449.
