Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier and Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player

Once again, Masimo Consumer has chosen a classic combination of stereo integrated amplifier and CD player for the Marantz brand, thus expanding the hi-fi portfolio with the Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier and Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player, both of which are particularly exciting solutions.

Story Highlights
  • Masimo Consumer describes the new Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier and Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player solutions as the epitome of elegance, musicality and contemporary versatility.

Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier and Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player, Masimo Consumer is now introducing two new components to the Marantz HiFi portfolio, whereby it is a classic combination of stereo integrated amplifier and CD player. However, and this is where things get particularly exciting, the amplifier is based on a concept with a purely analogue design for exceptional sound quality, as promised, and the CD player is equipped in such a way that it is capable of much more than just playing audio CDs.

As the name of the Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player suggests, it is also a flexible streaming client, and with its integrated D/A converter, it is an extremely flexible interface for the hi-fi chain.

Two exceptional products

Masimo Consumer is rightly talking about two new exceptional products in the HiFi portfolio, the Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier and the Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player.

According to the manufacturer’s promise, the two solutions are to be optimally matched to each other and thus form a contemporary hi-fi system that combines timeless elegance and outstanding performance with modern connectivity and redefines modern musical luxury in the price segment.

Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier

The new Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier is a solution that stands out with its timelessly elegant design, once again using the classic porthole as the central display, which is considered a Marantz trademark.

From a purely technical point of view, it is particularly interesting that this is a stereo integrated amplifier that, according to the manufacturer, relies on a purely analogue design, using a concept that was first found in the Marantz MODEL 40n Network Integrated Amplifier.

The amplifier is said to have an exceptional current delivery capability, resulting from its high-current Class A/B output stage design, which is based on parallel push/pull output pairs. The elaborate construction, including a large toroidal transformer, carefully designed signal path topography and the latest version of Marantz HDAM Technology (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module), ensures effortless performance and the precision, transparency and musicality typical of Marantz. The all-analogue configuration is completed by a very high quality Marantz Musical phono EQ stage, which ensures great sound when playing records.

The new Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier is capable of delivering two times 70 watts per channel. Six analogue inputs are available here, including the phono preamplifier just mentioned.

Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player

First and foremost, the new Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player is, of course, an audio CD player, but the manufacturer itself calls it the most flexible CD player ever. The reason for this is that the new Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player can be integrated into the network via WiFi or RJ45 Ethernet interface and can rely on HEOS Built-in. This means a very flexible streaming technology that can access its own content in the network as well as content from various streaming services, and is also equipped for Apple AirPlay 2, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth.

Intuitive operation is of course guaranteed by an app, the HEOS app, which is available for Google Android and Apple iOS. This also enables interaction with other HEOS Built-in-based streaming systems from the Marantz and Denon brands in the home.

The new Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player is also equipped for external digital sources and thus also serves as a flexible D/A converter, whereby HDMI is also available in addition to an optical and coaxial S/PDIF interface. TVs can be connected directly to the Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player via the HDMI interface, including HDMI CEC and ARC (Audio Return Channel), and thus integrated into the hi-fi chain. A USB port also allows direct connection to a PC or Mac.

The signal processing of the new Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player is done by an unspecified converter from the specialist ESS Technology Inc. and specially made Marantz Musical Digital Filters for clear and detailed sound, as the manufacturer describes it. The converter is able to process signals in Linear PCM with up to 32 bit and 384 kHz as well as DSD up to DSD256.

Audio signals can be output via two pairs of cinch sockets on the analogue level, one with variable and one with fixed level. Digital outputs are also available, namely an optical and coaxial S/PDIF interface. There is also a headphone socket directly on the front.

Optimal interaction

Of course, the two systems can be used separately for various hi-fi chains, and the Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player can even be used directly with active loudspeaker systems. However, the Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier and Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player have been designed to complement each other and work together in the best possible way.

For this reason, both components have corresponding trigger connections on their rear panels, and RS232 interfaces are also available for central control via corresponding systems.

Both products are delivered with matching infrared remote controls, which serve as system remote controls for both components.

Prices and Availability

The new Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier and Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player should be available from dealers immediately, with a choice of black or silver-gold. The recommended retail price for the Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier is € 1.800,- and also for the Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player € 1.800,-.

Getting to the point

Once again, Masimo Consumer presents with the two new systems Marantz MODEL 50 Integrated Amplifier and Marantz CD 50n Network CD Player a perfectly coordinated team of the Marantz brand for a fine hi-fi chain, whereby in this case it is particularly noticeable that the stereo integrated amplifier is purely analogue and the source device is a particularly flexible “digital” tool.
