Loewe antares Series – 4K OLED TVs with Modular Design, Loewe os9 and 144 Hz VRR

Televisions are no longer present in a living room only when they are switched on. Large-screen models in particular continue to define the space when their displays are dark. This is precisely where Loewe Technology GmbH positions the new Loewe antares Series, combining a deliberately horizontal 360-degree design with interchangeable aluminium applications, different installation options and a modular audio concept. The technical platform consists of individually calibrated 4K OLED modules, the Loewe SL8 chassis and Loewe os9. Dual Channel reception, USB recording, comprehensive streaming functions and HDMI 2.1 with 4K Ultra HD at up to 144 Hz VRR are also included. Four models measuring 42, 48, 55 and 65 inches are available at launch.

A Television Designed to Adapt to the Room

The basic shape of the Loewe antares Series is influenced by the appearance of modern widescreen monitors. Its enclosure has a pronounced horizontal structure, while connections and cables disappear behind dedicated covers. Loewe expressly treats the television as a 360-degree object, which is why the rear has also been incorporated into the overall design.

Interchangeable aluminium onlays make a significant contribution to the visual customisation. Applications in Alu Brushed and Alu Black are included as standard, with further colours to be offered optionally. A textile Smart Cover for the back of the television is also available.

Personalisation is therefore not restricted to a housing colour selected at the time of purchase. Individual elements can be replaced when the interior changes or when a different visual accent is desired. Aluminium and glass are the principal materials used in the construction.

Individually Calibrated 4K OLED Modules

All four models in the Loewe antares Series use OLED panels with a resolution of 3,840 × 2,160 pixels. According to the company, the OLED modules are produced in Kronach and calibrated individually before delivery. Loewe takes factors including the D65 white point and colour reproduction into account during this process.

The 55 and 65-inch models are specified to achieve a typical peak brightness of approximately 1,500 cd/m² with a ten per cent HDR window. The data sheet quotes around 800 cd/m² for the 42 and 48-inch versions. Response time is specified as 1 ms for every screen size.

Supported HDR formats include HLG, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail incorporates the ambient brightness into the picture adjustment. UHD scaling, automatic brightness control, AI-assisted picture processing, adaptive contrast and faithful 24p playback are also provided.

Loewe SL8 Chassis and Loewe os9

The latest-generation Loewe SL8 chassis operates inside the antares Series. Loewe os9 is based on VIDAA U9 and provides access to services including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, YouTube and Spotify. An app store, FAST channels, video-on-demand and audio-on-demand services, together with VIDAA Art Gallery Mode, extend the platform.

Content from smartphones, tablets and computers can be transferred via Apple AirPlay and Miracast. The Loewe remote vi communicates either by infrared or Bluetooth and supports voice control. The associated app is available for Android and Apple iOS.

Matter compatibility and interfaces for Control4, Crestron and Basalte simplify integration into Smart Home and home-automation systems. The Loewe Remote API also allows the television to be incorporated into individually planned control systems.

Dual Channel, Timeshift and USB Recording

Despite its extensive streaming facilities, Loewe has retained comprehensive support for conventional television reception. A Twin Triple-Tuner supports DVB-T2, DVB-C and DVB-S2 and provides the basis for Loewe Dual Channel.

This allows one programme to be watched while another channel is recorded. USB recording, multi-recording and timeshift are included as well. A CI+ slot conforming to Version 1.4 ECP is provided for encrypted services.

This equipment is particularly notable because recording functions on many current Smart TVs are either significantly restricted or no longer offered at all. Loewe is therefore retaining a group of functions that continues to offer considerable practical value for conventional linear television.

HDMI 2.1 and up to 144 Hz VRR

The Loewe antares Series provides four HDMI connections. According to the data sheet, two support 4K Ultra HD with Variable Refresh Rate at up to 144 Hz. Auto Low Latency Mode, Quick Media Switching and low input latency are also included.

The new models are therefore intended not only for film and television viewers, but also for users of current games consoles, gaming PCs and cloud-gaming services. HDMI eARC carries high-resolution multichannel audio signals to a soundbar, AV receiver or AV processor.

Two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, an optical digital output and an analogue headphone output complete the connection options.

Loewe Invisible Sound and a Modular Audio Concept

The standard Loewe invisible sound system is fully integrated into the television enclosure. It operates in two channels with Class D amplifiers. Loewe specifies a sine-wave output of 2 × 20 Watt and music power of 2 × 40 Watt. Dolby Atmos, Virtual 3D and DTS-HD are supported.

Automatic room calibration uses the microphone in the Loewe remote vi. Signal processing is handled by a DSP with functions including an equaliser, Dynamic Loudness and automatic volume adjustment.

For higher requirements, the system can be expanded with the passive Loewe soundbar antares. It is mounted directly on the television and uses forward-firing stereo speakers together with passive radiators. Loewe specifies a total music power of 80 Watt.

The centre input allows the Loewe antares to assume the role of the centre speaker in a multichannel home cinema. External audio systems can alternatively be connected via HDMI eARC, TOSLINK, Bluetooth or the analogue output. The audio concept is consequently not restricted to one system configuration and can be expanded according to the owner’s requirements.

From the Table Stand to the Floor2ceiling Stand

The standard table stand can be turned manually through 45 degrees to either side. It also provides three selectable height positions and routes cables out of sight through its construction. Loewe offers several optional floor and wall solutions in addition to this standard stand.

The floor stand motor stellar can be rotated by up to 45 degrees in either direction using Loewe magic.motion. Manual alternatives include the floor stand flex, floor stand grand and floor stand universal.

The floor2ceiling stand provides a particularly distinctive installation option. It is mounted between the floor and ceiling, can be adjusted for room heights between 220 and 290 cm and permits manual rotation through up to 110 degrees in either direction. Flat, tilting and VESA-compatible brackets are available for conventional wall mounting.

This range of options illustrates the positioning of the series. The buyer selects not only the screen size and placement, but can also plan the television as part of an architectural concept.

Developed and Manufactured in Kronach

The design was created by the Loewe Design & Innovation Studio, while the Loewe R&D Team is responsible for development and construction. Assembly, individual calibration and quality control are carried out at the company’s site in Kronach.

The modular, service-friendly and repairable construction is also intended to support a longer service life. This is an important consideration for a television in this price category. Individualisation has lasting value only when the entire product does not have to be replaced because of a single defective component.

The new Loewe antares Series is available now from specialist retailers. Standard equipment comprises the television with Loewe invisible sound, the manually rotating table stand, aluminium applications in Alu Brushed and Alu Black, the Loewe remote vi with batteries, a mains cable, instructions and a Welcome Box.

The Loewe antares 42 is priced at € 2.500,-. The Loewe antares 48 costs € 2.800,-, while the Loewe antares 55 is offered at € 3.100,- and the Loewe antares 65 at € 4.000,-. The optional Loewe soundbar antares is priced at € 300,-. Further aluminium applications, Smart Covers and table, floor and wall solutions are available separately according to the chosen configuration.

Getting to the Point

With the Loewe antares Series, Loewe addresses a question that often remains unanswered in the premium-TV segment: how can a technically current television be integrated convincingly into an individually furnished living space over the longer term? The interchangeable design elements and extensive selection of installation options are not merely decorative. They alter how and where the television can be used.

The technical specification also extends well beyond the exterior design. Individual OLED calibration, Dolby Vision IQ, Dual Channel, USB recording and 144 Hz VRR form an unusually comprehensive package. The audio concept appears particularly well considered, ranging from the invisibly integrated stereo system and optional soundbar to the use of the television as a centre speaker.

Loewe Technology GmbH charges a clear premium for this combination of production in Kronach, modular construction and individual configuration. Compared with significantly more expensive design televisions, however, the pricing of the new range remains understandable, particularly as the table stand, audio system and two sets of aluminium applications are already included. Loewe antares is therefore not a screen intended to disappear as inconspicuously as possible. It is a television designed to become a deliberate part of the room.
