- According to Dirac Research AB, the new Klipsch Flexus Core 300 is the first soundbar to utilise DIRAC Live Room Correction Technology.
With the new Klipsch Flexus Core 300, Klipsch is not only presenting the flagship of the Klipsch Flexus Sound System range of soundbar systems, it is also able to offer a solution that provides gripping immersive surround sound in the living room, according to the promise of the US speaker specialist, which relies on equipment with no fewer than twelve drivers and thus a 5.1.2-channel configuration and support for Dolby Atmos.
However, another special feature of the new Klipsch Flexus Core 300 is probably the biggest innovation, as the company has collaborated with DIRAC Research AB and is using DIRAC Live Room Correction Technology for the first time in a soundbar.
Klipsch Flexus Sound System powered by Onkyo
It was at CES 2024 that the US company Premium Audio Company LLC. presented a new product line around the Klipsch brand in the form of the modular Klipsch Flexus Sound System for fine sound in the living room, consisting of a soundbar, subwoofer and surround speaker, in collaboration with another Premium Audio Company LLC. brand, the Japanese brand Onkyo, which is known to be both a HiFi manufacturer and AV expert, and which was to contribute the electronics.
In January 2024, the Klipsch Flexus Core 100 and Klipsch Flexus Core 200 solutions were presented, two soundbar systems that can be expanded using Klipsch Flexus Surround 100 as additional surround speakers and the Klipsch Flexus Sub 100 subwoofer.
The new flagship – Klipsch Flexus Core 300 Dolby Atmos Sound System
Now comes another soundbar, namely the Klipsch Flexus Core 300, which the manufacturer has designated as the new flagship in the soundbar sector and promises nothing less than thrilling cinema sound in the living room.
First soundbar with DIRAC Live Room Correction Technology
The basis for this is that the new Klipsch Flexus Core 300 is the very first soundbar to utilise DIRAC Live ROOM Correction Technology and has, of course, worked directly with the technology company DIRAC Research AB.
DIRAC Live Room Correction Technology is becoming increasingly important, as more and more manufacturers in the HiFi and AV segment are relying on this technology to optimise playback for individual room conditions. This solution can be found in AV receivers as well as amplifiers in the classic stereo segment, and now for the first time in a soundbar with the new Klipsch Flexus Core 300.
It should also be mentioned that Premium Audio Company LLC. also claims to have developed the soundbar in close collaboration with Onkyo.
The Klipsch Flexus Core 300 promises to deliver the full 5.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos experience from a single speaker, with four 2.25-inch front speakers, four 4-inch high-performance woofers and a 0.75-inch horn tweeter for the front surround and centre speaker channels.
The new soundbar also has two 2.25’ discrete, upward-firing full-range drivers for the sound of the rear surround channels. It can be taken for granted that the soundbar lacks nothing in terms of other features, although the manufacturer has so far only stated that the new Klipsch Flexus Core 300 is equipped for 8K content via HDMI 2.1 ports with eARC, can be integrated into the network via WiFi, for example, and offers streaming options via Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast and Spotify Connect, as well as Bluetooth 5.3.
Klipsch Flexus Surround 200 and Klipsch Flexus Sub 200
There will also be expansion options for the new Klipsch Flexus Core 300, with Klipsch announcing matching surround speakers and a matching subwoofer. However, the company has not yet revealed many details about the Klipsch Flexus Surround 200 and Klipsch Flexus Sub 200 solutions, except that the subwoofer is a wirelessly controllable solution with a front-firing 12-inch woofer and that the surround speakers are designed as Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers and therefore have an additional broadband driver for upward dispersion.
Prices and availability
The new Klipsch Flexus Core 300, like the Klipsch Flexus Surround 200 and Klipsch Flexus Sub solutions, will be presented in detail in autumn 2024 and will be available at the end of the year. Exact prices will then also be announced. So far, only a guide price of US$ 999,- has been given for the soundbar, with US$ 499,- for the subwoofer and US$ 399,- for the speakers.
Getting to the point
With the new Klipsch Flexus Core 300, DIRAC Resaerch AB’s room calibration and room correction technology is making its way into soundbar systems for the first time. Based on this so-called DIRAC Live Room Correction Technology, Klipsch claims that the new flagship of the Klipsch Flexus Sound System will offer a gripping, immersive surround experience from just one source with content in Dolby Atmos, although upgrades can also be made using surround speakers or subwoofers, which are to be offered with the Klipsch Flexus Surround 200 and Klipsch Flexus Sub products.
