- The new Denon AVC-A10H network AV reciver, which is now Denon's new flagship product, could form the centrepiece of an outstanding home cinema.
The latest solution from Masimo Consumer of the Denon brand, the Denon AVC-A10H network AV receiver, is set to be a real heavyweight in the home cinema sector. This would be a solution aimed at particularly demanding home cinema enthusiasts, as the Denon AVC-A10H is intended to be the new flagship in the AV receiver sector.
According to the manufacturer, the latest technologies, high-quality components and exceptional sound quality combined with impressive performance form the basis for the Denon AVC-A10H to fulfil this task.
Designed as a 13.4-channel system
The fact that this is an AV receiver with no fewer than 13 power amplifiers and a total signal processing capacity of 17 channels, which means it is designed as a 13.4-channel system and can therefore drive up to four subwoofers, shows that this is a product that is even suitable for the realisation of quite powerful home cinemas.
The new Denon AVC-A10H is therefore ideally equipped for the reproduction of immersive 3D surround sound, as its 13.4-channel signal processing enables speaker configurations up to 7.4.6 or 9.4.4, whereby surround formats up to Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced, MPEG-H and Auro-3D are supported.
Solid performance for thrilling sound
The balanced and discrete mono-block design of the 13 power amplifiers in the new Denon AVC-A10H is said to be characterised by its powerful performance, with 150 watts available for speaker systems with an impedance of 8 ohms according to the manufacturer, and 190 watts per channel with an impedance of just 6 ohms.
Signal processing is carried out using D/A converters from the specialist ESS Technology Inc., with a total of nine unspecified “audiophile 2-channel D/A converters”.
Tuned by Denon Sound Master Shinichi Yamauchi
The new Denon AVC-A10H is manufactured directly at Shirakawa Audio Works in Japan, which guarantees consistently high quality while maintaining the highest standards and tightest tolerances. In addition, the Denon AVC-A10H is tuned by Denon Sound Master Shinichi Yamauchi to achieve Denon’s typical lively and expansive sound signature, according to the manufacturer.
To achieve the best results in both surround and stereo, the Denon AVC-A10H is equipped with Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room calibration and is ready for the solutions from DIRAC Research AB. DIRAC Live Room Correction and DIRAC Life Bass Control are available if the corresponding licences are purchased.
Numerous HDMI interfaces, analogue and digital inputs
To act as a flexible central interface, the Denon AVC-A10H initially has seven HDMI inputs, all of which are of course equipped for 4K 120 Hz and 8K 60 Hz. Of the total of three HDMI outputs, one serves as TV1 with 8K Ultra HD and HDCP 2.3 and eARC, the second as TV2 with 8K Ultra HD and HDCP 2.3, and the third with 4K support for controlling a second zone.
Digital audio interfaces – optical and coaxial S/PDIF – are just as important here as an RJ45 Ethernet interface for integration into the network as an alternative to WiFi, which is also available, and an RS232 and 12 V trigger connections for integration into control solutions.
Interestingly, there are even analogue video inputs available, and the Denon AVC-A10H also has numerous analogue audio inputs and outputs, including a phono preamp, albeit designed solely for drives equipped with an MM cartridge system.
Hi-res audio streaming via HEOS Built-in
The new Denon AVC-A10H is able to function as an extremely versatile streaming client when integrated into a network, using the HEOS Built-in streaming platform. This not only makes content available locally via UPnP, but also streaming offers from a wide range of services, be it TIDAL, Deezer, Qobuz, Spotify, Amazon Music and Internet Radio as well as podcasts.
With HEOS Built-in, the Denon AVC-A10H can of course also be used in combination with other streaming solutions of the same platform, controlled centrally via an app for Apple iOS and Google Android and can also be integrated into smart home solutions with the help of voice control.
Solid housing
The new Denon AVC-A10H has dimensions of 434 × 472 × 195 mm and a solid aluminium housing, which is available in either black or silver and is said to have a very robust design. For example, the manufacturer mentions a stable three-layer base plate, which protects the Denon AVC-A10H from vibrations and unwanted noise and should therefore significantly reduce noise. The AV receiver weighs in at an impressive 23,6 kg.
Prices and availability
The new Denon AVC-A10H is expected to be available from specialist retailers from November 2024. The recommended retail price is listed at € 4.700,-.
