Kenwood CR-ST80DAB – Compact Radio

The Kenwood CR-ST80DAB is a compact stereo radio that supports reception via DAB+ in addition to FM. In addition, smartphones can be used as a source, quite simply via Bluetooth.

Kenwood CR-ST80DAB is the name of the latest radio from the electronics specialist JVCKenwood Corporation, which has just been launched on the market. The manufacturer promises that the radio is extremely trend-conscious and offers fine sound in a compact form.

The device is only about the size of a DIN A5 sheet of paper, so it can be placed anywhere in the house and used flexibly. The design is based on the already known sister models, which have been launched in recent months and which have established themselves as very successful solutions. This shows that the demand for systems designed in this way is still very high, even in times of multi-room audio streaming.

The concept behind the new Kenwood CR-ST80DAB is deliberately simple: it is a radio that guarantees terrestrial radio reception via both DAB+ and FM. For both reception modes, 20 station memories are available to recall personal favourites at the touch of a button.

As befits a device of this type, the new Kenwood CR-ST80DAB naturally also has an integrated clock with sleep timer and alarm function.

If you want to connect your smartphone, the new Kenwood CR-ST80DAB does so via Bluetooth. This gives you access to your own content, but you can also use almost all music streaming services. The only prerequisite is the respective app installed on the smartphone. Podcasts and Internet radio can also be consumed in this way, without the actual radio having to be integrated into the network.

Analogue sources such as a CD player can be connected directly via an AUX input in the form of a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack. A line out is also available, also in the form of a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack.

Broadband drivers driven by an amplifier with two times 10 watts plus a bass reflex system are supposed to provide an appealing sound.

The manufacturer promises that the new Kenwood CR-ST80DAB will be particularly easy to operate, using a control panel on the top and a 6.1 cm TFT colour display on the front. A matching infrared remote control is also included.

The Kenwood CR-ST80DAB measures 245 x 145 x 115 mm and is available in two housing versions. The customer can choose between black and white.

The new radio from JVCKenwood should be available in specialist shops within the next few days. The price for the Kenwood CR-ST80DAB is € 149.

Getting to the point

Classic radios do not seem to be going out of fashion; the interest of customers in solutions that are as simple as possible, yet flexible, is still high. This is exactly what the new Kenwood CR-ST80DAB is supposed to be able to do. It features FM and DAB+ as well as the possibility to connect a smartphone via Bluetooth.
