Rega Planar 1 and Rega Planar 1 Plus in Matte Black or Matte White

Record players, especially in the entry-level segment, always have to follow the latest trends. That’s why Rega Research Limited now offers both the Rega Planar 1 and Rega Planar 1 Plus turntables in matt black and matt white.

Rega Planar 1 and Rega Planar 1 Plus, these two turntables currently represent the entry into the Rega Research Limited range, the English specialist for record players. These turntables are aimed at those who want fine turntables at an extremely attractive price, and who already have much of what the Rega Research Limited brand is all about.

One thing is clear: since record players are increasingly being perceived as lifestyle solutions, and since this circumstance is of course contributing significantly to the fact that vinyl as a whole is once again enjoying a very high status, even proven specialists such as Rega Research Limited must always keep an eye on what is currently in vogue, and indeed beyond the end of their nose, for example in the area of living or furnishings. And it is important to keep adapting their own products to this, especially in the entry-level sector.

Rega Research Limited is now offering the Rega Planar 1 and Rega Planar 1 Plus turntables in two new designs, matt black and matt white.

For years, it was considered particularly chic and noble to offer record players in high-gloss finishes, in many cases even high-gloss piano lacquer was used, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that this trend is passé. And not only in the record player segment, but also in the loudspeaker segment, two areas that go hand in hand in terms of design.

This is also the case with Rega Research Limited, as the Rega Planar 1 turntable is part of the Rega System One.

The Rega System One is designed as a true all-in-one solution, where the Rega Planar 1 turntable is the focus. However, it is joined by a stereo integrated amplifier in compact form, namely the Rega io Integrated Amplifier, and a pair of compact bookshelf speaker systems, the Rega Kyte.

And it’s the speakers that are not in glossy lacquer here, but rather present themselves in a matt finish. Naturally, a turntable in matt lacquer is a much better match for this all-in-one package.

By the way, the model Rega Planar 1 Plus differs from its little brother Rega Planar 1 in that a phono preamplifier is integrated ex works. Since both turntables are delivered equipped with a pick-up system, you have a turntable that is ready to play even if the amplifier you call your own does not have a phono preamplifier.

Another new feature is that the Rega Planar 1 and Rega Planar 1 Plus models are now equipped with the new Rega EBLT drive belt, which is said to offer even better precision.

The models Rega Planar 1 as well as Rega Planar 1 Plus in matt finish are available in specialist shops these days. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price is €379 for the Rega Planar 1 and €449 for the Rega Planar 1 Plus.

Getting to the point

Yes, it is absolutely crucial that a record player producer informs himself a little about prevailing fashion trends and incorporates them into his product range. Record players are also perceived as lifestyle objects and must therefore correspond to the current trends on the market. Therefore, Rega Research Limited now presents the models Rega Planar 1 and Rega Planar 1 Plus in a matt finish, and was equally available in black and white.
