JBL Junior 470NC, JBL Junior 320BT and JBL Junior 320 - the latest generation of JBL Safe Sound

Harman International Industries wants to offer headphones that have been optimised to meet the special needs and requirements of children, combining comfort and safety with playful design in an innovative way, with the JBL Junior Series from the JBL brand, namely the new JBL Junior 470NC, JBL Junior 320BT and JBL Junior 320 models.

Story Highlights
  • The JBL Hunor Series headphones, the JBL Junior 470NC, JBL Junior 320BT and JBL Junior 320 models, are designed specifically for the needs and requirements of children.

Headphones are our everyday companions, and this is no longer just the case for young people, but for almost all age groups. In addition, the use of headphones is starting earlier and earlier, although there is a lot to consider, especially for children at a young age, as this target group has very specific requirements and there are many things to keep in mind, such as the volume at which they listen and also the playing time, i.e. how long they listen for.

Harman International Industries now wants to take all these factors into account with the latest product line of the JBL brand, which has been specially developed for children: the JBL Junior Series with the JBL Junior 470NC, JBL Junior 320BT and JBL Junior 320 models.

The focus is on hearing health – JBL Safe Sound

First and foremost, everything has been done to ensure that the JBL Junior Series headphones are designed to provide the best possible protection for children’s naturally sensitive hearing, according to Harman International Industrues.

The latest generation of JBL Safe Sound is an effective means of achieving this, which is far more than a conventional volume limit of 85 dB, as the manufacturer states.

The latest generation of JBL Safe Sound is also a volume limiter, but also a playtime limiter, a tool that serves as an activity report and has personalised countdown reminders.

The focus is therefore on an app that can be used with the two new wireless models from the JBL brand, the JBL Junior 470NC and JBL Junior 320BT solutions, but not with the wired JBL Junior 320 model.

With the JBL Junior 470NC and JBL Junior 320BT models, the JBL Headphones app for Apple iOS and Google Android offers additional functions, such as setting the maximum volume, a maximum playing time can be set, and parents can even use their own voice to record notifications for the kids using the “Time up” reminder.

All relevant parameters can be displayed directly via real-time indicators in the form of daily or weekly activity reports for volume and usage.

“At JBL, we have made it our mission to drive innovation. This also applies to our new JBL Junior headphones, which offer the next generation of JBL Safe Sound for those at the beginning of their personal audio journey. By introducing extended parental control through our JBL Headphones app, we are creating an audio experience that is both fun and safe for young listeners.”

Bluetooth for flexible use without cables

According to the manufacturer, the JBL Junior 470NC and JBL Junior 320BT models are perfect for wireless, flexible use on the go. They are not only compact, foldable and wireless, but also durable and designed for comfortable use. With a battery life of up to 50 hours and the integrated quick-charging function, the JBL Junior 320BT and the JBL Junior 470NC are ideal for long car journeys or air travel, with the latter even featuring active noise cancellation. Thanks to the so-called multipoint connection, several devices can also be used simultaneously when travelling. If the battery runs low, the two headphones can also be operated using a cable.

JBL Junior 320 – The solution with a cable

As previously mentioned, the JBL Junior 320 is also available as a wired alternative, although it does not offer the full functionality of the JBL Junior 470NC and JBL Junior 320BT models and the JBL Headphones app. However, children’s ears are still protected by limiting the volume to 85 dB.

Prices and availability

The new JBL Junior Series headphones are designed for children between the ages of three and eight and are available now. It should also be mentioned that the packaging has been designed so that they can be transformed into a stand for a phone or tablet and can be personalised with fun stickers. Getting to the point

When it comes to headphones for children, you should definitely go for special models that have been specifically designed for this target group. Only these models are designed in such a way that they are optimised for the special needs of children, and not just the smaller size compared to standard models, but also important safety measures such as a volume limiter. This is exactly what the new models from Harman International Industries, now available under the JBL brand as the JBL Junior Series, offer. In addition to a wired model, the JBL Junior 320, two Bluetooth solutions are available, with these models – the JBL Junior 329BT and JBL Junior 470NC – offering a wide range of options via the JBL Headphones app, which the manufacturer summarises as the latest generation of JBL Safe Sound.
