Ikea SYMFONISK Floor Lamp Speaker – Floor Lamp with WiFi Speaker based on Sonos S2 Streaming Platform

It is the latest solution in the Ikea SYMFONISK Series, which Inter IKEA Group is now presenting together with Sonos Inc. in the form of the new Ikea SYMFONISK Floor Lamp Speaker. Once again, this is a lamp, specifically a floor lamp, which also presents itself as a so-called wireless speaker, whereby the streaming platform established by Sonos Inc. is used. Like all solutions of the Ikea SYMFONISK Series, the new Ikea SYMFONISK Floor Lamp Speaker can be controlled via the Ikea Home Smart App as well as the Sonos App and access various contents.

Ikea SYMFONISK Series – reimagining audio and light

When Inter IKEA Group together with Sonos Inc. first announced the Ikea SYMFONISK Series in June 2019, both companies stated that they would revolutionise the way sound and light were used with this product line.

Two products were presented at the time, the Ikea SYMFONISK Bookshelf Speaker and the Ikea SYMFONISK Table Lamp Speaker, followed later by the Ikea SYMFONISK Picture Frame Speaker.

Ikea SYMFONISK Floor Lamp Speaker – The Floor Lamp

The Swedish furniture store’s solution is presented in the form of a floor lamp. Like previous products from Inter IKEA Group and Sonos Inc, the new Ikea SYMFONISK Floor Lamp Speaker is designed to combine high-quality sound with a thoughtful design, and to fit into the customer’s home in a new elegant way.

The challenge of not having enough space for a table to put the lamp on prompted us to develop the floor lamp.”

In fact, the Ikea SYMFONISK Table Lamp Speaker and the new Ikea SYMFONISK Floor Lamp Speaker solutions have great similarities, you could say that they are essentially identical products, one version is designed to be placed on a table, the new floor lamp has an additional stand.

Streaming platform by Sonos Inc.

As already described, all solutions of the Ikea SYMFONISK Series rely on the streaming platform of Sonos Inc. specifically the latest version Sonos S2 Streaming Platform, so they can be integrated into the network via WiFi and combined with other products of the Ikea SYMFONISK Series as well as the complete current product range of Sonos Inc. itself.

The Ikea Home Smart App or, ideally, the Sonos App, which the company Sonos Inc. offers for Apple iOS and Google Android, takes over the control. The app is used to configure the system, to combine devices into groups and to access countless online services such as Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, Apple Music, TIDAL and many, many more, internet radio, podcasts and, of course, your own content in the network. It should also be mentioned that this solution also supports Apple AirPlay 2 as well as Spotify Connect.

The new Ikea SYMFONISK Floor Lamp Speaker measures 136 cm in height and has a diameter of 37 cm. At launch, this solution is available in black, with the lampshade being a bamboo weave.

The matching light source must be purchased separately, whereby LED lamps with E27 are provided. A smart solution is recommended here, such as an Ikea TRÅDFRI E27 with 806 lm and nine different colours or shades of white. Not really much more expensive, however, would be a solution of the Philips HUE brand, which is also much more flexible in its expansion and, depending on the model, can come up with significantly higher luminosity, a wider spectrum already in the white tones, and also millions of colours.

The latest solution of the Ikea SYMFONISK Series is to be available these days in all Ikea furniture stores as well as directly in the company’s online store. The price for the Ikea SYMFONISK Floor Lamp Speaker is € 219,-.

Getting to the point

With the new Ikea SYMFONISK Floor Lamp Speaker, Inter IKEA Group expands the Ikea SYMFONISK Series, which was developed together with Sonos Inc. As the name suggests, the previous table lamp has now been joined by a floor lamp, although there is no real technical difference between the two.
