Story Highlights
  • The latest firmware, which is now available for the systems of the HiFi Rose brand from Citech Co. Ltd., makes various improvements to details and also forms the basis for synchronising personal data with streaming services such as TIDAL and Qobuz.

The specialist for high-end hi-fi streaming systems Citech Co. Ltd. now offers a new firmware for the streaming solutions of the HiFi Rose brand, specifically the operating system RoseOS 4.5.05. In addition to various detail improvements and performance optimisations, the new software release brings with it a new and particularly exciting feature, namely the possibility to synchronise playlists from streaming services such as TIDAL and Qobuz.

Another new feature is the possibility to copy files directly via RoseOS, which is only the beginning of a comprehensive file management system. Also relevant for the user, although not immediately obvious, is that the network protocol has been changed from SMB1 to SMB2 in order to increase security.

Synchronising playlists with streaming services

Everyone knows the problem: you meticulously create playlists for the streaming service that include your personal favourite tracks, maybe even several for different moods and occasions, but in the end you can only use them via this streaming service and nowhere else.

This is exactly where the new option of the streaming systems of the HiFi Rose brand comes in, because from now on, playlists can be synchronised with TIDAL and Qobuz.

According to Citech Co. Ltd, playlists and favourites can be transferred to the streaming systems of the HiFi Rose brand, but it is also possible to transfer them from the streaming systems for TIDAL and Qobuz. This is very practical, for example, if something has changed around the streaming subscription. Finally, it is also possible to switch from one service to the other and export one’s own playlists and favourites.

If you use the synchronisation, all changes made to the playlists are displayed simultaneously on the streaming client of HiFi Rose and the streaming service.

Easy management of data with the file manager

The management of audio data has also been improved once again with the new firmware, according to the manufacturer’s promise. Thus, files stored on USB and SSD can be easily managed via RoseOS. With the file manager, it is possible to copy music files from the connected USB memory to the SSD or from the SSD to the USB memory, even during music playback.

It should be noted in this context that only copying is currently supported, but functions such as deleting, moving, renaming and the possibility of creating directories are already being worked on, according to Citech Co. Ltd.

Apple Music follows…

With the current version, Apple Music is also supported, but the manufacturer speaks of a track synchronisation, whereas the playlist synchronisation is to follow shortly.

Change from SMB1 to SMB2

Even though we have already mentioned it, for the sake of completeness it is worth mentioning again in detail that with the new version RoseOS 4.5.05 the manufacturer has decided to switch from SMB1 to SMB2 for security reasons. However, this has no effect on the user in daily operation.

Prices and availability

RoseOS 4.5.05 is available immediately as a so-called OTA firmware update, i.e. over-the-air update, free of charge for all existing customers.

Getting to the point

It is an extremely exciting feature that Citech Co. Ltd. now offers with RoseOS 4.5.05 in the form of the synchronisation of playlists and favourites with streaming services such as TIDAL and Qobuz, because this means that this personal data, which is often quite time-consuming to create, is now also directly available via the streaming systems of the HiFi Rose brand, even if something changes in the registration of the subscriptions. The possibility of simply copying data will also please some people, especially since this is only the beginning of flexible data management directly on the device.
