HEOS Built-in Technology now supports TIDAL Connect

From now on, TIDAL can no longer be used solely via the HEOS app, but directly via TIDAL Connect on selected systems from Marantz and Denon with HEOS Built-in Streaming Technology.

Story Highlights
  • With a firmware update, Marantz and Denon systems with the latest generation of HEOS Built-in Technology are now equipped for TIDAL Connect.

HEOS Built-in Technology, this is the streaming platform that has been the basis for the corresponding solutions from the Denon and Marantz brands for years. Once developed as HEOS, and even briefly managed as a separate brand, this streaming platform is an extremely flexible solution that is recommended as a multi-room Hi-res audio streaming system in the form of wireless speakers, soundbar systems, HiFi and AV solutions from the Denon and Marantz brands.

The system is eagerly maintained and updated by Masimo Consumer, which now provides updates at regular intervals, such as the latest firmware and the latest versions of the HEOS app for Apple iOS, Google Android and Amazon FireOS.

TIDAL and TIDAL Connect

TIDAL has always been an integral part of HEOS built-in streaming technology, but until now you had to be content with accessing the streaming provider’s content via the HEOS app alone. While this does offer the advantage of being able to search for content across multiple sources, i.e. not only your own content but also subscribed streaming services are immediately available, it is often associated with the disadvantage that not all the options offered by streaming providers via their own platform and thus their own app can be used.

Technologies such as TIDAL Connect allow you to use the streaming provider’s app directly and play back its content on a wide range of systems that are compatible with TIDAL Connect.
The app takes over control, while the actual data traffic is handled solely by the TIDAL Connect-compatible device. This also ensures that the best possible quality, i.e. high data rates with the lowest latency, is achieved.

HEOS Firmware 3.34.240 with TIDAL Connect

With the latest HEOS firmware 3.34.240, TIDAL Connect is now available for all current solutions based on HEOS Built-in Technology from the brands Denon and Marantz. TIDAL Connect is supported by all HEOS-HS2 solutions, but not by HEOS-HS1 systems, as the manufacturer explicitly points out.

Deezer HiFi – Hi-res FLAC now available via the HEOS app

The new firmware also brings innovations for subscribers to the Deezer service, as this latest firmware now supports Hi-res FLAC files directly via the HEOS app for Deezer HiFi.

Various bug fixes and detail improvements

Finally, it should also be mentioned that the HEOS firmware 3.34.240 also brings with it numerous other detailed improvements and fixes various bugs. The manufacturer provides a comprehensive list on the support pages of Marantz and Denon, with each brand providing detailed information on the different solutions.

Prices and availability

The latest HEOS firmware 3.34.240 is of course available to all users of Denon and Marantz solutions free of charge. This also applies to the latest version of the HEOS app, which is available for Apple iOS, Google Android and Amazon FireOS.

Getting to the point

Even though Masimo Consumer is convinced that it can offer an immensely versatile, intuitively operated streaming platform with HEOS Built-in Technology, it has now decided to allow users to use the TIDAL service directly via TIDAL Connect. This is made possible by the new HEOS firmware 3.34.240, which is now available for products from the Denon and Marantz brands.
