Harman ExPLORE 2023 – JBL 4329P Studio Monitor

The Harman Luxury Audio Group is presenting another JBL Synthesis brand active speaker system, the new JBL 4329P Studio Monitor, as part of the so-called Harman ExPLORE 2023, which is taking place during CES 2023 in Las Vegas.

The new JBL 4329P Studio Monitor is a versatile active loudspeaker system that Harman Luxury Audio Group is now presenting at Harman ExPLORE 2023, which is taking place in Las Vegas at the same time as CES 2023. The JBL 4329P Studio Monitors are said to be designed as a highly flexible solution, offering high-resolution audio streaming as well as multiple connectivity options for both analogue and digital source devices.

JBL 4329P Studio Monitor to follow JBL 4305P Studio Monitor

The new JBL 4329P Studio Monitor is to follow the JBL 4305P Studio Monitor and thus the first and smallest active speaker system in the JBL Studio Monitor Series, according to Harman Luxury Audio Group.

This active loudspeaker system proved to be extremely successful, mainly due to the already mentioned features that allow a particularly flexible use. The fact that the developers of the new JBL 4329P Studio Monitor are now offering this concept a little larger is probably a very wise decision.

JBL 4329P Studio Monitor as an active two-way bass reflex system

The new JBL 4329P Studio Monitor uses patented JBL 2409H 1-inch tweeters that rely on a so-called JBL HDI horn. This abbreviation stands for High-definition Imaging. The woofer drivers are JBL JW200P-4 8 inch drivers with paper cone, whereby a front-firing bass reflex system is used for a particularly sovereign reproduction in the low frequency range. The new JBL 4329P Studio Monitor is a two-way bass reflex system.

It is driven by Class D amplifier modules, with 250 watts per channel for the woofer drivers and a further 50 watts per channel for the tweeter.

Optimal control of the drivers is guaranteed by DSP-based signal processing, whereby the manufacturer promises a dynamic, fine-grained performance.

Versatile streaming options

The new JBL 4329P Studio Monitor can be connected to the network either via cable or WiFi and is then an extremely flexible option for playing music from a wide range of services.

The new JBL 4329P Studio Monitor supports Google Chromecast as well as Apple AirPlay 2, and is also Roon Ready, as the manufacturer explicitly states.

The JBL 4329P Studio Monitor is able to process signals in Linear PCM with up to 24 bit and 192 kHz as well as signals encoded in lossy compressed MQA.

Bluetooth 5.3 is available for “wireless” signal transmission away from the network. In addition to the lossy codecs SBC and AAC, aptX and aptX Adaptive are also supported.

Versatile connection options

Those who want to connect source devices can do so first and foremost via a combined XLR/6.35 mm TRS phono input, which is designed for use with balanced connections and unbalanced signals. In addition, there is a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack as a further analogue input as well as an optical S/PDIF interface.

Those who want to connect a PC or Mac directly as a source can do so via a USB port, so the JBL 4329P Studio Monitor will probably be found on many a workstation as a desktop audio system.

“With its integrated amplification, DSP, streaming engine and a host of analogue and digital inputs in one complete system, the active 4329P Studio Monitor is a highly versatile solution that opens up a world of new listening possibilities for music lovers. Whether it’s enjoying hi-res streaming from a streaming service or listening to physical sources such as turntables and CD players, the 4329P makes it easy to experience the joy of music in a completely individual way.”

Pricing and availability

The new JBL 4329P Studio Monitor is expected to be available at retailers in the second quarter of 2023, in Natural Walnut or Black Walnut finishes. The manufacturer lists the recommended retail price at € 3.999,-.

Getting to the point

The new JBL 4329P takes listening to the next level with more generously sized drivers and twice the amplifier power of its smaller brother, the JBL 4305P Studio Monitor, promises Harman Luxury Audio Group for this new JBL Synthesis brand active speaker system. These upgrades are said to deliver effortless dynamics, powerful deep bass response and crystal-clear precision, revealing previously unheard details even in familiar recordings. The performance of the JBL 4329P Studio Monitor matches that of much larger and far more expensive passive speakers, without the added complexity of external components.
