The fact that Fyne Audio is focussing on retro charm with its latest product line, paying homage to the heyday of HiFi in the early 1970s, is obvious at first glance when you look at the solutions in the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP Series. The company openly admits that it was inspired by the golden age of HiFi, but at the same time explicitly emphasises that it has designed solutions that are designed for today and can therefore fully meet the demands of even the most ambitious HiFi enthusiasts for modern loudspeaker systems.
Fyne Audio has five solutions to offer in the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP Series, namely the Fyne Audio Classic Gold VIII SP, Fyne Audio Classic Gold X SP, Fyne Audio Classic Gold XII SP and Fyne Audio Classic Gold XV SP models.
Combines timeless design with High-end audio technology
The SP in the name stands for Special Production, with the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP Series bridging the gap between the elegant vintage aesthetic of the Fyne Audio Classic Series and the cutting-edge performance of the flagship Fyne Audio Vintage Series, according to the manufacturer, which speaks of a perfect blend of style and performance.
Solid construction of the birch wood cabinet
The Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP Series speaker systems are manufactured in Scotland, directly at Fyne Audio in Glasgow, with a very solid construction made of high-density birch wood for the housing. This should provide the ideal basis for the drivers to realise their full potential.
Incidentally, the housing is finished in walnut, which creates a particularly elegant impression in combination with dark glazed areas and brass elements.
Fyne Audio IsoFlare driver and BassTrax Tractrix diffuser system
The drivers in question are now Fyne Audio IsoFlare Drivers, which, according to the manufacturer, are now equipped with a neodymium tweeter for an even more precise performance.
The new speaker systems in the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP Series also feature the BassTrax Tractrix diffuser system, which is designed to guarantee 360° dispersion into the room and therefore a solid bass foundation.
Much attention has also been paid to the crossover, which has been fine-tuned for exceptional sound clarity, according to Fyne Audio. The crossover consists of high-quality audiophile components, such as polypropylene capacitors, low-loss laminated iron-core coils and high-performance precision resistors. This allows a natural and transparent sound to be achieved.
Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold VIII SP
The new Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP Series starts with the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold VIII SP, a two-way bass reflex system with dimensions of 873 x 380 x 300 mm, which is already quite powerful in appearance.
Equipped with a 200 mm IsoFlare point source driver with multi-fibre bass/midrange cone and a 25 mm magnesium dome compression tweeter with ferrite magnet system, it is designed to reproduce a frequency range between 30 Hz and 34 kHz, with the crossover starting at 1,8 kHz. With an impedance of 8 ohms and an efficiency of 91 dB, this speaker system is designed for amplifiers with an output of between 30 and 200 watts.
Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold X SP
The new Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold X SP also proves to be a powerful two-way bass reflex system, using a 250 mm IsoFlare point source driver with multi-fibre bass/midrange cone and a 75 mm titanium dome compression tweeter with neodymium magnet system to cover a frequency range between 28 Hz and 26 kHz. The crossover starts at 750 Hz. The impedance is specified as 8 ohms, the sensitivity as 94 dB and the recommended amplifier output as 20 to 280 watts. The speaker system measures 9918 x 450 x 300 mm.
Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold XII SP
The third model in the new Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP Series is the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold XII SP, a two-way bass reflex system measuring 948 x 550 x 421 mm and equipped with a 300 mm IsoFlare point source driver with multi-fibre bass/midrange cone as well as a 75 mm titanium dome compression tweeter and neodymium magnet system.
This allows a frequency range between 25 Hz and 26 kHz to be reproduced, whereby the crossover is also set very low here at 750 Hz. Designed for amplifiers with an output of 20 to 350 watts, the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold XII SP has an impedance of 8 ohms and an efficiency of an impressive 96 dB.
Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold XV SP
The Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold XV SP is the top model in the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP Series, a truly powerful system with dimensions of 1,052 x 650 x 537 mm, which is of course also designed as a two-way bass reflex system.
It combines a 380 mm IsoFlare point source driver with multi-fibre bass/midrange cone and a 75 mm titanium dome compression tweeter with neodymium magnet system and can therefore reproduce a frequency range between 23 Hz and 26 kHz, with the crossover starting at 750 Hz.
With an impedance of 8 ohms and an efficiency of an impressive 97 dB, the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold XV SP is designed for amplifiers with an output of between 20 and 400 watts.
