FiiO M5 Hi-res Lossless Music Player in new colours – Now it’s getting colourful

FiiO Electronics Technology Co Ltd. offers a special solution with the FiiO M5 Hi-res Lossless Music Player. It is by far the smallest hi-res audio player from the specialist, which lacks almost nothing in functionality. Now it is available in different color versions.

The FiiO M5 Hi-res Lossless Music Player, which we have already introduced to you in detail, has a very interesting history. Actually, the plan of FiiO Electronics Technology Co Ltd, a renowned specialist for personal audio solutions, was to develop a new Bluetooth receiver for the FiiO BTR range. It was to be a solution designed to be the new flagship of the range, offering everything one could expect in this area.

In addition to the latest Bluetooth standard with support for all relevant protocols and codecs, a flawless DAC should be used, which is not only used for signals via Bluetooth, but should also be available for other sources such as USB. A high-quality headphone amplifier was also a must, so in the end everything that could be of interest for such devices was packed into this new project. This is all the more astonishing, since it was supposed to be a very small product, a mobile all-rounder.

At some point, the point was reached where we were faced with an important decision, namely whether we were still dealing with a pure Bluetooth receiver or a solution that lacked just one small thing to expand the FiiO M range, namely a display and direct music playback via the small device.

This decision was obviously made quickly, and instead of the new FiiO BTR5, they presented the new FiiO M5 Hi-res Lossless Music Player.

The FiiO M5 Hi-res Lossless Music Player can still be classified in both series, due to its functionality in the FiiO M range, but due to its form factor it would be a worthy representative of the FiiO BTR range, as it is a product no larger than 45.3 x 42 x 13.9 mm and weighs no more than 38 g. In other words, you are actually dealing with a solution that could be called a so-called Smart Watch, the only thing missing is the matching wristband, which, how could it be otherwise, has of course long been announced by FiiO Electronics Technology Co Ltd. as an optional accessory in the form of the FiiO SK-M5A.

But this also makes it clear that we are dealing with a product that lives up to the concept of lifestyle in every respect, so a certain variety of design variants is also in demand. And right from the start, it was clear that the FiiO M5 Hi-res Lossless Music Player would not only be available in a subtle black, but would also be a bit more colourful.

And this is now the case, the FiiO M5 Hi-res Lossless Music Player is now available in five different versions. Customers can choose between black, blue, silver, titanium and red.

Nothing has changed in terms of price, of course, but the FiiO M5 Hi-res Lossless Music Player is still available in all the above-mentioned colours at a suggested retail price of only € 99.99. It is probably the most affordable solution for hi-fi audio in all situations, a hi-fi player that you can always carry on your wrist, that is also a USB DAC, Bluetooth receiver and Bluetooth transmitter, so it can also be used for phone calls in combination with a smartphone, is an excellent headphone amplifier, and even has a calorie counter…

Getting to the point

The FiiO M5 Hi-res Lossless Music Player is no larger than 45.3 x 42 x 13.9 mm and weighs just 38 g. Yes, the design is a little reminiscent of a Smartwatch, and that’s no coincidence. In fact, you can wear it as a watch, but it comes with a Bluetooth receiver with integrated D/A converter and headphone amplifier on the wrist, which can also function as a hi-res player. On a PC or Mac it can also serve as a USB DAC. It is obvious that the manufacturer is talking about the new flagship in this product group, and is therefore no longer assigning it to the FiiO BTR range, but to the FiiO M range. This solution is now available in five different versions. Customers can choose between black, blue, silver, titanium and red.
