FiiO LC-RE – Tri-Metallic Headphone Cable

A headphone cable for high-end mobile applications will be available with the new FiiO LC-RE, according to specialist FiiO Electronics Technology Co Ltd, which not only uses a cable with a complex structure and three metals, but also offers an interchangeable jack plug.

The Chinese company FiiO Electronics Technology Co Ltd. not only offers a wide range of portable hi-fi audio players, portable D/A converters and headphone amplifiers, but also a remarkable range of headphones, especially in-ear headphones. In addition, FiiO Electronics Technology Co Ltd. is one of the companies that recognised early on that especially demanding customers in the portable audio solutions sector require high quality accessories to ensure optimal results. This includes headphone accessories such as cables and adapters, so FiiO Electronics Technology Co Ltd. has a wide range of solutions in this area.

FiiO Electronics Technology Co Ltd is now adding a particularly exciting new solution to its cable product range: the new FiiO LC-RE. This is a cable designed for in-ear headphones with a so-called MMCX connector or 0.78 2-pin, which the manufacturer recommends as a high-end solution for absolutely perfect results. A complex manufacturing process with particularly exquisite materials is combined with the flexibility of interchangeable jack plugs.

At first glance, the new FiiO LC-RE looks like many a cable from FiiO Electronics Technology Co Ltd, because the Chinese company’s developers have been relying on a design in which the conductors are arranged like a helix. The signal conductors are individually shielded and the result is a highly flexible structure, not to mention the fact that such a design also offers immense advantages from a sound engineering point of view due to optimal shielding.

But FiiO Electronics Technology Co Ltd. goes much further with the new FiiO LC-RE than with previous solutions, as it does not simply use high-purity copper, but rather gold, copper and silver, so that the manufacturer speaks of a tri-metallic solution.

Each signal conductor thus ultimately consists of three conductors, one of gold, one of silver and one of copper, whereby these are twisted and have 240 strands. The manufacturer refers specifically to Furukawa monocrystalline copper, gold-plated Furukawa monocrystalline copper, and pure silver. Each signal conductor is then separately insulated, using PVC for this purpose. Last but not least, the individual signal conductors are twisted to form the aforementioned helix structure, so that the overall result is a rather complex structure with reduced impedance and skin effect.

Another special feature of the new FiiO LC-RE is that this cable ends in a micro XLR connector, to which three different jack plugs can be connected. In addition to a 3.5 mm stereo jack, a 2.5 mm jack and a 4.4 mm jack for balanced connections are available. With this solution, you are therefore well equipped for all current connection variants in portable audio solutions.

The FiiO LC-RE has a practical length of 1.2 m.

As mentioned in the margin, the new FiiO LC-RE is available in two versions. The FiiO LC-RE can be ordered in a version for the very popular MMCX connectors for in-ear headphones, but there is also a version available for the 0.78 2 pin connectors, which are already quite common.
The new FiiO LC-RE will be available at retailers these days, according to the sales department. The recommended retail price is € 199,-.
