FiiO FF1 Detachable Cable Beryllium-plated Driver Earbuds

The new FiiO FF1 Detachable Cable Beryllium-plated Driver Earbuds are intended to present themselves as a further solution in the FiiO FF Series.

With the new FiiO FF1 Detachable Cable Beryllium-plated Driver Earbuds, the Chinese specialist for personal audio devices FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. is expanding the so-called FiiO FF Series, a product line that can basically be classified as in-ear headphones, although this solution is actually intended as an alternative to conventional in-ear headphones. While normally in-ear headphones are inserted directly into the ear canal, the models of the FiiO FF Series only rest on the edge of the ear canal and are thus fixed in the pinna alone.

FiiO Electronics Technologie Co. Ltd. wants to appeal to users who find conventional in-ear headphones uncomfortable or oppressive and are looking for an alternative.

FiiO FF Series – the alternative to classically designed in-ear headphones

It is interesting to note that James Chung, CEO of FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Inc. describes himself as a user who has no use for conventional in-ear headphones, so the FiiO FF Series was developed purely out of self-interest.

So far, two solutions have been offered within this product line, namely the FiiO FF3 Drum Type Dual-Cavity Earbuds and the FiiO FF5 Detachable Cable Carbon-based Dynamic Driver Earbuds.

With the new FiiO FF1 Detachable Cable Beryllium-plated Driver Earbuds, this product line is now to be expanded to include a solution aimed at a particularly broad target group, as the manufacturer promises a particularly good price-performance ratio, referring to it as the new entry-level solution of the FiiO FF Series.

Especially generously dimensioned driver

At the heart of the new FiiO FF1 Detachable Cable Beryllium-plated Driver Earbuds is a dynamic driver with a diameter of 14.2 mm, according to the manufacturer.

The diaphragm is vapour-plated with beryllium, which makes it particularly light but also particularly stiff. In addition, a special construction based on PU sealing of the driver is used. This ensures that a particularly wide frequency range can be reproduced accurately and free of distortion.

In order to make the bass reproduction in particular even more superior, the developers of the new FiiO FF1 rely on a so-called Acoustic Resistance Pipe, so that a controlled air flow and thus a solid bass reproduction is achieved.

In principle, the headphones are designed as an open construction, with a frequency range between 20 Hz and 20 kHz, an impedance of 40 ohms and a sensitivity of 106 dB.

Detachable cable

As the full name of the product suggests, the new FiiO FF1 features detachable cables, relying on the increasingly common 0.78 2-pin connector. Even though the FiiO FF1 is already delivered with a high-quality cable, the user can always choose other options that FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. itself offers in the accessories section.

Incidentally, the cable has an integrated microphone with a corresponding button so that the new FiiO FF1 can also be used to make phone calls. The cable has a practical length of 1.2 m and ends in a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack plug.

High wearing comfort

Of course, the manufacturer promises a particularly high level of wearing comfort, especially with the solutions of the FiiO FF Series and thus also with the new FiiO FF1. Even lying on the ear with the earphones plugged in is supposed to be possible here without any problems, the special shape of an earbud makes it possible.

The fact that the earbud weighs no more than 3.2 g and that various sponge covers are included in the scope of delivery, which allow for individual adjustment, ensures a high level of wearing comfort.

To guarantee a perfect fit even with mSport, so-called anti-slip silicone rings and silicone wing hooks are also available.

Prices and availability

According to the manufacturer, the new FiiO FF1 Detachable Cable Beryllium-plated Driver Earbuds will soon be available in specialist shops. Customers will be able to choose between the Obsidian Black and Racing Silver versions, whereby the second variant will probably not be available until autumn 2023. The price for the new FiiO FF1 Detachable Cable Beryllium-plated Driver Earbuds is listed at € 34,-.
