Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier – Audio quality in a class of its own

With the new Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier, Masimo Consumer is expanding the range of the Japanese HiFi brand Denon with a very special stereo integrated amplifier. It builds on the experience gained during the development of the outstanding Denon PMA-A110 Integrated Amplifier, placing it at the top of Denon's product range.

Story Highlights
  • Based on the outstanding Denon PMA-A110 Integrated Amplifier, the new Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier should prove to be a particularly fine stereo integrated amplifier.

The Japanese HiFi manufacturer Denon, which is part of the Masimo Consumer group, is fortunately gradually returning to its roots, which clearly lie in classic HiFi. HiFi enthusiasts have appreciated Denon’s integrated stereo amplifiers for decades, and they will be delighted with the latest addition to the Denon range, the Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier.

The Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier is set to take its place at the top of Denon’s amplifier product portfolio, according to the manufacturer’s promise. The company has chosen an exceptional product as the basis for this, namely the Denon PMA-A110 Integrated Amplifier, which was launched on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the Denon brand.

Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier with audio quality in a class of its own

The new Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier is designed for HiFi enthusiasts who not only want a powerful solution, but also do not want to compromise on sound quality, according to the manufacturer’s promise.

The Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier utilises an advanced two-stage push-pull amplifier design and sophisticated digital signal processing, according to Denon in the corresponding product description.

To go into more detail, it is a so-called UHC-MOS single-push-pull circuit and two-stage differential amplifier circuit, which, according to the manufacturer, is characterised by exceptional clarity and linearity and at the same time can provide sufficient power.

The new Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier delivers no less than two times 160 watts to speaker systems with an impedance of 4 ohms. Speakers with an impedance of 8 ohms still provide a solid two times 80 watts, as the data sheet of the new stereo integrated amplifier reveals. According to the manufacturer, this allows the Denon PMA-3000NE to control even demanding loudspeakers with playful ease.

The declared aim of the developers was to guarantee an unadulterated performance from any source, while offering the user the flexibility to use both analogue and digital source devices.

Analogue or digital – phono preamp and D/A converter

First of all, the new Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier provides analogue inputs in the form of pairs of RCA sockets, three in total, plus a phono preamplifier, which is designed for both MM and MC cartridge systems and is characterised by accurate signal processing.

The analogue section of the stereo integrated amplifier is rounded off by a Record In and a Pre Out, both designed as pairs of RCA sockets.

For digital signals, the new Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier is equipped with a coaxial and three optical S/PDIF interfaces, as well as a USB-B port for direct connection to a PC or Mac.

Signal processing with up to 32 bit and 384 kHz, whereby any resolution below this can be upsampled using Denon Ultra AL23 processing and thus also upconverted to 32 bit and 384 kHz.

Special analogue mode

If desired, the entire digital section of the Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier can also be completely deactivated; this is referred to as a Source Direct Function, which is intended to guarantee the highest sound quality. Of course, this also bypasses the tone control and balance control that this stereo integrated amplifier provides in normal operating mode in the tried and tested tradition of the brand.

Finally, it should also be mentioned that the new Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier has a headphone amplifier, which is available directly on the front via a 6,3 mm stereo jack.

As the Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier has four pairs of solid screw terminals for connecting speaker systems, an A plus B or A or B circuit as well as bi-wiring is possible.
It should also be mentioned that this new stereo integrated amplifier, which is available in either black or silver, is produced directly in the Denon factories in Shirakawa, Japan.

Prices and availability

The new Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier will soon be available from specialist retailers in either black or silver, as described above. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price is € 3.499,-.

Getting to the point

It was in 2020 that the long-established Japanese HiFi manufacturer Denon celebrated its 110th birthday and presented a particularly fine integrated stereo amplifier to mark the occasion, including the Denon PMA-A110 Integrated Amplifier. This stereo integrated amplifier is now also said to have served as the basis for the Denon brand’s new flagship amplifier, the Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier.

According to the company, which is part of Masimo Consumer, this provides a solution with particularly outstanding sound quality, solid performance and flexible use. The new Denon PMA-3000NE Integrated Amplifier serves as the central interface of a HiFi chain that can include both analogue and digital source devices, from record players to TVs and streaming clients.
