Lyngdorf D-60 C In-wall Speaker

SL Audio A/S is a premium consumer electronics specialist that serves both the HiFi and home cinema segments with its Lyngdorf Audio brand, offering not only electronic solutions in its product portfolio, but also speaker systems. The company offers classic loudspeaker systems as well as custom installation solutions, and the so-called Lyngdorf Discreet Series is even a very important product line of the company from Skive in Denmark.

This product line is now being expanded to include a further built-in speaker, the Lyngdorf D-60 C In-wall Speaker. According to the manufacturer, this is primarily intended to complement the Lyngdorf D-60 In-wall Speaker, which was launched last year.

Not just a centre speaker…

As the C in the name suggests, the new Lyngdorf D-60 C In-wall Speaker is primarily designed as a centre speaker. It is intended to be the Lyngdorf Discreet Series in-wall speaker that offers the highest performance. It is therefore also conceivable to use it as a front speaker in a home cinema designed for high performance, as well as in a classic stereo configuration in which the new Lyngdorf D-60 C In-wall Speaker is used for the left and right channels.

A particularly powerful built-in speaker

According to the manufacturer, the midrange driver is positioned directly under the tweeter, which in turn is flanked by two woofers. The tweeter, midrange and woofers can each be controlled via a separate amplifier channel with an active digital crossover in the AV processor, SL Audio A/S cites a Lyngdorf MP-40 2.1 and Lyngdorf MP-60 2.1 as examples, which already have corresponding presets.

This ensures that the effect between the mid and bass ranges is optimised and the typical problems with phase, dispersion and frequency response that can occur with many conventional centre speakers are avoided.

The developers have opted for a powerful soft-dome tweeter and a midrange driver with a particularly effective drive unit based on neodymium magnets. The woofers also have a particularly powerful drive unit and ventilated die-cast baskets for a particularly powerful performance.

The inverted surround enables a flat speaker front and a space-saving installation depth. The tweeter, midrange driver and woofers are driven by an active bi-amping crossover to achieve the best sound performance, balance and sound dispersion.

The Lyngdorf D-60 C has a high-quality, low-resonance MDF cabinet in matt black and is supplied with a white, paintable and magnetically held front grille.

Ready for immediate use, without any further aids

All Lyngdorf Discreet Series speakers are supplied with a pre-assembled speaker enclosure, so that no retrofit backbox or closed wall recess is required and a defined and consistent sound performance can be guaranteed in different rooms and wall constructions.

Key technical data of the Lyngdorf D-60 C In-wall Speaker

In pure figures, the Lyngdorf D-60 C In-wall Speaker can reproduce a frequency range between 80 Hz and 22 kHz and is intended for use with additional woofers for LFE and bass, such as the Lyngdorf BW-20 or the Lyngdorf DW-1.

The Lyngdorf Discreet Series currently consists of the Lyngdorf D-500, Lyngdorf D-500 Centre, Lyngdorf D-5, Lyngdorf D-5 IC, Lyngdorf D-60 and now the Lyngdorf D-60 C models. Not to be forgotten is the previously mentioned Lyngdorf DW-1 Shallow In-wall Woofer, which has only recently been presented.

Prices and availability

As this solution is not aimed directly at end customers but primarily at specialists in the custom installation segment, the manufacturer has not announced a price for the new Lyngdorf D-60 C In-wall Speaker. This solution should be available from October.

Getting to the point

According to SL Audio A/S, the new Lyngdorf D-60 C In-wall Speaker is the most powerful in-wall speaker in the Lyngdorf Discreet Series to date. This is the ideal solution for centre speakers, but of course this built-in speaker can also be used for discreet HiFi systems. In any case, the other products in the Lyngdorf Discreet Series and the electronic solutions of the Lyngdorf Audio brand provide a broad spectrum for realising customised installation projects.
