Chord 2yu Musical Transparent Audio Interface for 2go

The English hi-fi manufacturer Chord Electronics Ltd. calls the now available Chord 2yu the Musically Transparent Audio Interface for the Chord 2go. Ultimately, this means nothing other than that the Chord 2go becomes a stand-alone network bridge.

For a long time, the English hi-fi manufacturer Chord Electronics Ltd. has focused on personal audio devices with the highest quality standards. Among the numerous solutions is the Chord 2go Transportable Music Streamer/ Player, which in turn was developed for the compact D/A converter Chord Hugo 2 Transportable DAC/ Headphone Amplifier.

Now, however, the focus is solely on the Chord 2go Transportable Music Streamer/ Player, for which the English developed the new Chord 2yu Musical Transparent Audio Interface for 2go.

Chord 2yu developed for the Chord 2go

The combination of Chord Hugo 2 Transportable DAC/ Headphone Amplifier and Chord 2go Transportable Music Streamer/ Player provides a mobile streaming client, whereby the Chord 2go takes over the task of streaming and is connected to the network via Ethernet cable or WiFi, or plays back content from a microSD card with up to 4 TByte storage capacity from a corresponding slot. Signal processing is of course handled by the Chord Hugo 2, which is a D/A converter and headphone amplifier in one.

With the new Chord 2yu Musical Transparent Audio Interface for 2go, the D/A converter becomes obsolete; it connects directly to the Chord 2go and does without a D/A converter, so that in the end you have a small, fine streaming bridge.

The Chord 2go becomes a streaming bridge

This means that the new Chord 2yu has only digital outputs, namely in the form of an optical as well as coaxial S/PDIF interface, another S/PDIF interface in the form of a BNC socket, and a USB port is also available.

While the optical and coaxial S/PDIF interfaces as well as the corresponding BNC interface can output signals in Linear PCM with up to 24 bits and 192 kHz as well as DSD, the USB port supports signals in Linear PCM with up to 32 bits and 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD256.

Precise signal processing

The Chord 2yu has a processing power of no less than 2,000 MIPS, where this abbreviation stands for millions of instructions per second. This is supposed to provide the basis for particularly precise signal processing, for example, via an integrated sampling rate converter and a low-jitter audio phase-locked loop.

Flexible in use

The new Chord 2yu in combination with the Chord 2go is extremely flexible in its application possibilities and is therefore suitable for a wide range of application scenarios. For example, it can be used to create a particularly discreet streaming solution, which is designated as Roon Ready and can thus be used completely with the media management and multi-room audio streaming solution from Roon Labs LLC.

Simple operation

Of course, the well-known Chord Gofigure app for Apple iOS and Google Android is available for configuration.

In the tried and tested manner, the controls are specially shaped as a sphere and illuminated in different colours.

The new Chord 2yu Musical Transparent Audio Interface for 2go is powered by a 5 V and 2 A Switching Micro USB Power Supply, which is also included in the scope of delivery, as well as a Type-A USB to Type-B USB cable, a BNC to BNC cable, an optical cable and a transport case.

The new Chord 2yu Musical Transparent Audio Interface for 2go is offered with a solid aluminium housing in black or silver.

Getting to the point

The combination of Chord 2go and Chord Hugo 2 results in an extremely flexible, compact streaming client. Now the English go one step further and present the new Chord 2yu Musical Transparent Audio Interface for 2go, a solution that can be combined directly with the Chord 2go to create a streaming bridge. There is no D/A converter available, but this solution can be connected via digital interfaces to any audio system with an integrated D/A converter.
