One has with the new Cayin CS-6PH Vacuum Tube Phono Preamplifier a full tube phono preamplifier in the offer, with which one addresses especially demanding vinyl lovers, so Cayin Audio. Apart from fine equipment, this shines with the fact that it has two phono inputs.
With the new Cayin CS-6PH Vacuum Tube Phono Preamplifier one has especially demanding record lovers in the focus, because with this new phono preamplifier from Cayin Audio is open to them the possibility of drives equipped with different cartridge systems or two record players directly connected.
At the touch of a button, you can thus switch between the pickups or drives, of course supporting MM as well as MC cartridges equally.
Cayin CS-6PH Vacuum Tube Phono Preamplifier – Two Phono Inputs…
It is by no means unusual for a vinyl lover to own not just one turntable, but two. Nor is it unusual to use a turntable with not just one arm, but two. This allows the user greater flexibility, after all, there is no other source device in the world of hi-fi where you can use such versatile different configurations to always achieve optimal results.
The sticking point, however, is the phono preamp, because you either have to use several of them, or just one model like the new Cayin CS-6PH, which allows the connection of multiple cartridge systems.
Full tube phono preamp
But the possibility of connecting two pickup systems is only one feature that makes the new Cayin CS-6PH an exciting solution. It is an all-tube phono preamplifier, which stands out with quite fine equipment in the tubes.
Thus, the Cayin CS-6PH uses two 6922 from Electro Harmonix for the construction of the circuit designed for MC cartridge systems. For the phono preamp designed for MM cartridge systems, on the other hand, the developers rely on two ECC83 from JJ Electronics. Here, as there, a particularly precise RIAA equalization is to be guaranteed.
For the output stage of the new Cayin CS-6PH they rely on two 12AT7 and for the voltage rectification two RCA 22DE4 tubes are used, which minimize the ripple.
A gain switch on the front panel of the Cayin CS-6PH allows users to adjust the gain to suit their pickup system, with a choice of 40 dB, 57 dB, 61 dB or 65 dB.
The CAP switch allows users to set the input capacitance of MM to 47 pF or 100pF. MC’s input impedance can be adjusted to suit the needs of each cartridge using the impedance selector switch, with 47 ohms, 100 ohms, 200 ohms, 470 ohms and 1,000 ohms available here.
A low-pass filter, which prevents high membrane excursions caused by low frequencies as a result of various influences, can be activated via the so-called Rumble switch.
While the two inputs are RCA jacks, a pair of XLR connectors for a balanced connection to the amplifier is available as output in addition to the unbalanced pair of RCA jacks.
The new Cayin CS-6PH is offered optionally in black or silver, whereby in each case a very solidly built housing with a noble aluminum front is used.
It must also be emphasized that the new Cayin CS-6PH is handmade, as the manufacturer explicitly emphasizes. The recommended retail price for the Cayin CS-6PH is stated at € 2,499, – and it should be available in stores from the beginning of October 2021.
Getting to the point
Especially demanding vinyl lovers often call not only one turntable their own, or even rely on a turntable that is equipped with several tonearms and thus also pickup systems. Cayin Audio wants to address these with the new Cayin CS-6PH Vacuum Tube Phono Preamplifier, which offers two phono inputs and – nomen est omen – is designed as a full tube phono preamplifier.
