WiiM Ultra now Roon-Ready

Within a very short time, the solutions from the WiiM brand have developed from an insider tip to a fixture in the field of cost-effective streaming systems. The products from Linkplay Technology Inc. are all characterised by an impressive price-performance ratio, so it is no surprise that the solutions from the WIiM brand are attracting a great deal of attention, with some even talking about products that are making life difficult for established manufacturers and turning the market upside down.

At High End 2024, Linkplay Technology Inc. presented another streaming solution that also caused a stir: the WiiM Ultra. The manufacturer promised that this solution would provide the ultimate digital hub for digital music.

The ultimate digital hub

With dimensions of just 205 x 205 x 73 mm, the WiiM Ultra is said to be much more than a simple streaming device; the company even talks about an all-encompassing solution for all digital music needs, at an astonishingly high level of quality, and yet at an equally astonishingly attractive price.

Not only is it a solution with a 3.5-inch colour touchscreen display, the WiiM Ultra is equipped with numerous interfaces and is able to play content from the network via UPnP, Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect, but not Apple AirPlay 2.

Now Roon Ready too

From the outset, Linkplay Technology Inc. promised that the WiiM Ultra would also be Roon Ready. In fact, the company is very committed to the solution from Roon Labs LLC. The WiiM Pro and WiiM Pro Plus systems, as well as the WiiM Amp, are Roon Ready, and the WiiM Pro Plus and WiiM Amp are also Roon Tested.

Now the WiiM Ultra can also be designated as Roon Ready, and the corresponding certification by Roon Labs LLC. has been completed.

Prices and availability

According to Linkplay Technology Inc., all that is needed to use the WiiM Ultra as a Roon Ready device is a new firmware, and its rollout is expected to take place in the next few days. Of course, this will be available to all users free of charge.
