Unison Research Simply Italy TAD-Jubiläumsedition

In close cooperation TAD Audiovertrieb GmbH and Unison Research have designed the tube-based stereo integrated amplifier Unison Research Simply Italy TAD anniversary edition on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the German distribution. This should present itself in a modern look.

For years, the Italian hi-fi manufacturer A.R.I.A. srl with its Unison Research brand has been one of the manufacturers for which the German distributor TAD Audiovertrieb GmbH is responsible and which is a particularly important one for the company as a proven analogue specialist. After all, the Unison Research brand can point to loudspeaker systems and a wide range of the finest electronics, primarily based on tube technology. The fact that the solutions from Unison Research also convince with a particularly elegant appearance and a particularly high manufacturing quality also fits perfectly into the product portfolio of TAD Audiovertrieb GmbH, as it is once again possible to offer outstanding solutions.

TAD Audiovertrieb GmbH is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, which is also to be celebrated in cooperation with the Italian hi-fi manufacturer. Therefore, it was decided to create a very special version of a real top seller from the Unison Research product range, namely the stereo integrated amplifier Unison Research Simply Italy, which is now presented as the Unison Research Simply Italy TAD anniversary edition.

Unison Research Simply Italy was deliberately chosen for this project, and as already mentioned, this is a real top seller, according to the German distributor from Aschau im Chiemgau.

“Our vision of this product renewal at the time of our 20th company anniversary is to have a bestseller produced with a modern look. In close cooperation with Unison our vision was realised in style. The little Italian is lovingly handcrafted, product by product. Technically we agree that Simply Italy plays in its own musical league.”

From a purely technical point of view, the Unison Research Simply Italy TAD Anniversary Edition, like the regular production model, is of course a Stereo Integrated Valve Amplifier, which is the entry point for Unison Research, but already has all the features and sound philosophy that characterise the entire Italian product line.

It is striking, for example, that it is a comparatively compact system, as this amplifier measures no more than 26 cm in width, 35 cm in depth and 19 cm in height. Compared to the fact that it is a first-class tube amplifier, these are indeed quite manageable dimensions, which ensure that this solution can be easily integrated into almost any living environment. However, the 15 kg weight speaks for itself, and that is that no savings have been made in terms of assembly or processing during the technical implementation.

Four analogue inputs designed as pairs of RCA sockets are available here, and the solution also has a sub-out to bring active subwoofers into play.

The circuitry is based on a single-ended ultralinear Class A output stage, with two EL34 (6CA7) and two ECC82 (12AU7). With a nominal impedance of 6 ohms the amplifier delivers a power of 12 watts twice. In conjunction with correspondingly efficient loudspeaker systems, this guarantees an impeccable performance with appealing fine detailing but also impressive dynamics.

The front is equipped with an input selector switch, designed as a rotary encoder on the left, and another rotary encoder for the volume on the right. Both are made of brushed stainless steel. The main switch is located in the middle.

In the case of the Unison Research Simply Italy TAD anniversary edition, the front is naturally made of wood and painted in glossy black. The solid stainless steel case is also completely black, but with a matt lacquer finish. This is why the stainless steel curved tube bezels with brushed finish on the top, together with the tubes, create a very attractive contrast, whether or not the steel frame that comes with the case is used to protect the glass bulbs.

Between the glass bulbs of the Unison Research Simply Italy TAD anniversary edition you will find not only the emblem of the manufacturer, but also the badge which identifies this amplifier as a special model.

The Unison Research Simply Italy TAD anniversary edition comes with a matching infrared remote control, so there is no need to sacrifice comfort. This is all the more important because, as already mentioned in the introduction, an amplifier is available here that offers classic circuitry in a classy, compact form and can therefore be regarded as a modern lifestyle solution.

The new Unison Research Simply Italy TAD anniversary edition is to be available immediately at a recommended retail price of € 1,999.
