Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth Speaker – elegance paired with the finest technology

Triangle Electroacoustique describes the new Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth Speaker as combining Triangle's sound signature with the most advanced technologies and presenting this in the form of a particularly elegant active speaker system.

Story Highlights
  • Triangle Electroacoustique presents the new Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth Speaker as a downright extravagant solution in the form of an active loudspeaker equipped with state-of-the-art features.

For some time now, the French company Triangle Electroacoustique has been focussing not only on classic passive loudspeaker systems but also on active loudspeaker systems, with a particular focus on designing modern solutions that offer a wide range of functions but are also designed in such a way that they can be integrated into any living environment.

The new Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth Speaker is nevertheless something extraordinary, as it features an exquisite design and particularly advanced technology. This active speaker system comes with a central stereo hub that supports WiFi and Bluetooth as well as WiSA and features numerous analogue and digital interfaces. This establishes the new Triangle Capella Line.

Completely “wireless” thanks to WiSA Technology

This so-called stereo hub described above serves as the central communication interface for the entire system, both externally and internally. First and foremost, the so-called WiSA Technology is available here, a platform specially developed for audio signal transmission, which guarantees audio signal transmission with minimum latency.

Audio signals are transmitted at 24 bit and 96 kHz, as can be seen from the data sheet of the new Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth Speaker.

With the new Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth Speaker, the system’s active speakers are controlled via WiSA, meaning that no cables need to be laid to the central hub. The two speakers only require one power connection each.

The central stereo hub of the Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth speaker

The stereo hub of the new Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth speakers is designed in the form of a compact plastic housing in a discreet black colour, where all interfaces are available, and lots of them.

For analogue sources, there is a pair of RCA sockets and a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack as line in, for digital sources there are three optical and one coaxial S/PDIF interfaces, and this solution also has a USB-B port so that it can be connected directly to a PC or Mac.

The HDMI port also deserves a special mention, as this means that nothing stands in the way of a direct connection to a TV set. Of course, this not only supports ARC, i.e. an audio return channel, but also centralised control using a remote control via HDMI CEC.

Streaming in all relevant formats – UPnP, Apple AirPlay through to Roon Ready

The Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth Speaker system can be integrated into a network via WiFi using a stereo hub, which can then initially be used as a dlna-certified streaming client via UPnP. In addition, Apple AirPlay and Google Chromecast are also supported, meaning that a wide range of streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Qobuz, Deezer and TIDAL are also available. The central control unit is the Triangle Capella app for Apple iOS and Google Android. The manufacturer also states that the new Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth speakers are labelled as Roon Ready.

Bluetooth including aptX HD

If you don’t want to rely solely on the network infrastructure, Bluetooth is also available to transmit audio directly from a smartphone, for example, with aptX and aptX HD supported in addition to the SBC and AAC codecs.

Share Speaker systems with DSP-based signal processing and automatic calibration

The Triangle Capella Active Speakers are two-way bass reflex systems that rely on a 16 cm natural cellulose midwoofer and a magnesium alloy horn tweeter, while a downward-acting bass reflex system ensures the appropriate bass response with sovereignty. This allows a frequency range between 42 Hz and 22 kHz to be reproduced.

The chassis are driven by Class D amplifier modules, with an output of twice 100 watts, which in turn is divided into 50 watts per chassis.

Of course, DSP-based signal processing is used here, especially for the crossover, but also for optimum control of the drivers, as the manufacturer emphasises. Triangle Electroacoustique also offers Automatic Calibration Technology, meaning that this solution features room calibration with corresponding adjustment of the performance, whereby the aforementioned Triangle Capella app is of course available for this purpose. For Apple iOS, no additional tools are required; for Google Android, an optional Wireless ZEN Microphone is needed.

For the sake of completeness, it should be noted that analogue signals are converted at 24 bit and 96 kHz for digital signal processing, while digital signal processing takes place at up to 24 bit and 192 kHz.

Extremely elegant design

As already mentioned at the beginning, the new Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth Speaker presents itself as an extremely elegant solution, with dimensions of 380 mm in height, 200 mm in width and 315 mm in depth, the speaker systems can certainly be described as a compact shelf speaker system. Incidentally, each speaker weighs 8,5 kg.

The Stereo Hub measures 100 mm in width, 70 mm in depth and 45 mm in height and thus weighs around 500 g.

Noble burl wood

The designers have opted for a fine burl wood finish, which shines through all the available lacquers. Astral Blue, Nebula Brown and Black Star are available, with anodised aluminium in a champagne finish providing an attractive contrast in each case.

A high-gloss white version is available for those who prefer a simple, elegant look, although the aforementioned aluminium accents in a champagne finish are particularly striking here.

Prices and availability

The new Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth speakers are now available from specialist retailers. The recommended retail price is € 2.499,-. As described above, you can choose between three design variants and the French speaker specialist also offers an optional Triangle S05 stand, which is a perfect match. The scope of delivery also includes a matching remote control.

Getting to the point

Triangle Electroacoustique has been dedicated to modern active speaker systems for a very long time, but with the new Triangle Capella WiFi & Bluetooth Speaker, the company has gone one step further than before, providing a solution based on the latest technology in an extremely elegant form. WiSA in particular stands out here, as this technology is used to control the speakers “wirelessly”, with the so-called Stereo Hub forming the basis of the system and guaranteeing particularly flexible use with numerous interfaces and streaming via all relevant platforms.
