- The German specialist for AV furniture Spectral Audio Möbel GmbH will cease operations in mid-August 2024.
For three decades, Spectral Audio Möbel GmbH in Pleidelsheim developed and manufactured AV furniture and was considered one of the leading companies in this field. The company focused primarily on solutions in the premium segment and mainly addressed customers who wanted to integrate their AV and HiFi systems into their personal living environment as discreetly and stylishly as possible.
The product range was presented accordingly in the form of solutions that know how to hide their actual function extremely elegantly, which at first glance actually look more like conventional, albeit exquisite furniture, but are nevertheless optimally prepared for the integration of electronic components and sometimes even speaker systems. The company saw itself as a pioneer in the field of products that it itself described as smart furniture and as elegant living room furniture with intelligent additional functions. These were intended to form the link between home and entertainment, as Spectral Audio Möbel GmbH liked to call it.
Furniture not for everyone
It must be clearly stated that solutions from Spectral Audio GmbH did not come cheap, and were simply not furniture for everyone. The wide range of products from Spectral Audio Möbel GmbH was clearly aimed at customers who were willing to dig a little deeper into their pockets, but who were able to realise solutions that were largely individually tailored to their requirements in collaboration with specialist retailers.
Opening of insolvency proceedings
As the company has now announced in a press release to business partners, it had to cease operations on 16 August 2024. This was preceded by insolvency proceedings opened on 1 August 2024, and employees were also informed at that time that Spectral Audio Möbel GmbH could not continue as a going concern.

The difficult situation in the consumer electronics and furniture market, as well as the uncertain industry development, have also deterred the last interested parties.”

It is distressing that the long-established company Spectral Audio Möbel GmbH has to cease trading after 30 years. The market is losing a renowned company that can be described as a very innovative company that has played a decisive role in shaping this market. The closure of the company will clearly leave a gap that will not be filled quickly.
